The colourful complex is very close to Philipsburg's Front Street and its beach.

It lifts at set times to give access to boats travelling between the sea and the lagoon (priority to outgoing boats, width 10 m, depth 3.5/3.8 m, draught 2.9/3.3 m). You may encounter traffic jams when it opens, so be patient, especially in high season! Or take a trip around Simpson Bay... where you'll find another lift bridge.

If you'd like to take advantage of the opportunity to discover the whole Caribbean, Air Antilles serves Barbados, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia, Dominica, Guyana, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Puerto Rico and more. In the summer of 2023, the company, then in receivership, decided to discontinue its services to Saint-Barth. Air Antilles resumed operations in September.
