CAFÉ HELENKA
Read moreTHE most prominent café/restaurant in town, an institution! The interior is very comfortable, chic and modern, a perfect invitation to come and sip a cocktail, have lunch (a French inspired menu) or take a coffee break. Its decoration is airy and copies the luxurious French style of the turn of the century. Café Helenka is strategically located on Dietla Square, so you can stop in between visiting the Pieninskie and Uzdrowiska museums. A tip: go to the back room to see the mineral water gallery.
GOSPODA U KRAKOWIAKA
Read moreOld Polish cuisine restaurant in a traditional setting with large wooden benches, fireplace, antlers hanging on the walls, waiters in traditional costume. The chef in the kitchen offers his guests a wide range of dishes from the old Polish cuisine. The Krakowiak tavern is huge, with a capacity of about 300 people on its two floors, so don't be surprised by the crowds or by the events it hosts. The portions are hearty and the food is very good with regular folk music performances.
TRZYDZIESTKA
Read moreThis restaurant in the central square of the Rynek is an iconic part of the downtown landscape. It has been on official photos and tourist souvenirs for several decades and has changed little in the meantime. In its well-situated room, set in a stylish house, it offers a range of grilled food (its specialty) with, of course, Polish dishes and a little bit of European cuisine. It is a smart option to enjoy the central square for dinner, especially in the summer season.
ZIELONA TAVERNA
Read moreFrom the outset, one is immediately seduced by its plush interior where everything is made of wood, in the characteristic manner of a dacha in the Russian countryside. The outside, with a sublime and shaded patio and a pretty green terrace, is enough to make the most undecided waver. As for the cuisine, we eat well, quite simply, with fresh dishes with Mediterranean accents (even if we are far from the sea) extremely well presented. On weekends during the summer, it is better to reserve, at the risk of finding yourself on the street!
LA CAMPANA
Read moreA slice of Italy in this old street near the university. Under a porch, you'll discover this superbly decorated trattoria, with its small vaulted stone rooms that make you want to linger, but the best part, apart from the kitchen, is the garden that opens up in fine weather.
U FLISAKA
Read moreA restaurant on a boat moored in front of the castle where you can enjoy Polish dishes on the go, especially made with fish. It also has a menu and a playground for children. Excellent address for visitors in a hurry or who don't want to bother with a long lunch break. The menu offers a small selection of dishes, and although the food is not very hearty, nor very tasty, it does the job, when the setting takes care of the rest. The prices on the other hand are somewhat high.
HUMMUS AMAMAMUSI
Read moreThis little eatery, whose bar takes up most of the space, has conquered the hearts of the neighborhood with lightning speed. It has accomplished the feat of importing the habit of morning hummus to Krakow and converting a whole host of devotees. Although not exactly as good as back home, it's still excellent and makes for a top-quality breakfast. Of course, it's not just hummus you'll find here, and all sorts of Levantine specialities are on the menu. All in all, it's a delight from morning to night, you eat light and leave with a smile on your face.
OGNIEM I MIECZEM
Read moreA charming little address that has been in existence for almost twenty years, making the most of its pretty wooden chalet, obviously decorated in the rustic style of a mountain cottage, with its wooden walls, flowers and rural ornaments. If the name "De feu et d'acier" refers to a temple of Polish literature, it's to bring visitors back to the distant past of its recipes, immersing them in Polish and Lithuanian culinary traditions, with a wide choice of meat and game dishes.
NOTA RESTO
Read moreThis is the restaurant of chef Tomasz Leśniak, who cut his teeth for ten years at the Sheraton and is now the official chef of the Polish national soccer team. His ambition is clearly to win Michelin stars. Will he succeed? Certainly. The cuisine is excellent, particularly the steak (which would be criminal to miss), and the setting is fantastic, especially on the terrace. However, service, food and wine pairings and the sometimes crude experimental gastronomy are still lacking.
BIANCA
Read moreThis Italian bistro with a modern, sober and friendly decoration with its beige and white dominants is a good contemporary trattoria that does not inflate its bill. It is also one of the only Italian restaurants in the city to offer gluten-free pasta. Everything is good and homemade with love, especially the fresh pasta in the morning. The atmosphere is family friendly, the small terrace at the entrance of the restaurant overlooks the church of Saint Mary and the wine list (mainly Italian varietals) is skillfully composed to please the palate.
SCANDALE ROYAL
Read moreCharlotte and Scandal are neighbors and together create a small island of ease and trendy party on Szczepańsk Square. The restaurant brings above all a refined setting an original modern and catch-all menu that mixes French dishes as well as Polish or Asian specialties. This clever mix, if not very great cuisine, is successful and appreciated by the executives of the neighborhood. In the basement, the room is arranged around a stage where musicians, comedians and magicians perform once a month
KAWALERIA SZARŻA SMAKU
Read moreOne of the most popular restaurants among locals. It serves excellent Polish cuisine of well above-average quality. The dishes are carefully presented, and the atmosphere is charming and festive in the three rooms decorated with artefacts and equestrian motifs such as colourful Cossacks or hunters with trophies in hand. The menu changes with the season, but you'll always find game and vegetarian options. The restaurant is also family-friendly, with a children's menu, adapted chairs and even a dedicated play corner.
PIEROGARNIA STARY MŁYN

The menu features all kinds of specialties and tasty dishes that could have come straight out of a real Polish grandmother's kitchen. The dishes are therefore slightly different from what you'd expect to find in traditional cuisine, with quiches, soups, salads and a wide choice of desserts. In short, you're in for a treat at this rustic restaurant, which is very popular with the locals. We recommend the specialties and the grilled pierogi.
MUZEALNA
Read moreLocated in a cellar of one of the beautiful Armenian houses in the city center, not far from the city hall, this restaurant is specialized and even rather famous ten years ago in Polish cuisine and has seen over the years many great personalities. Although its star has faded somewhat, its traditional cuisine remains formidable, mixing local specialties with Jewish and Armenian dishes on its menu. The soups in particular are delicious. We recommend it for an atmospheric dinner in town.

From a certain hour, it is the only somewhat lively place in the sleepy downtown Sandomierz. A must visit for a sweet break.

This establishment, which has been open for 15 years, offers French wines and high-flying dishes that are renowned in the city. The setting and dishes are luxurious and therefore more expensive than average, but not excessively so.

Pizzas, pierogis, salads: The card is diverse, but the dishes are successful and adapt to every taste. The place lends itself to a small stop to take a drink. Just steps from the Chopin hotel, it is an ideal place to take a few moments away from the bustling tourist activity of the city centre.

BAR MLECZNY CENTRALNY
Read moreNowa Huta's central milk bar is part of a well-established chain. Its stodgy, proletarian appearance is completely reminiscent of the socialist era, which is particularly easy to do in this neighborhood. The room is very large, and looks like a canteen. The menu, typical of these establishments, is obviously not translated, so you'll have to draw on your best Polish pronunciation or find a generous customer to translate for you, because the staff won't have the patience to please you. A 100% authentic experience.

Thanks to the dynamism of its current owner, who knew how to renovate it while preserving its quirky charm, the establishment is now back to its former splendor. In addition, one eats there very well a mixture of Slavic specialities, are in particular famous its tartar and its pierogis.
