Inaugurated in 1873 by soprano Ángela Peralta, the "Mexican Nightingale", this theater is an architectural gem initiated in 1871 under the aegis of architect Juan Mañón. This was followed by a dozen or so notable Hollywood productions and then by lesser quality films. Today, it is a sort of entertainment park built around the traditional single street of western villages.
