AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL EL CATEY
Read moreThis small international airport, which exists since 2006, is located at 20 minutes of Las Terrenas and Nagua by a recent highway which goes directly to Santo Domingo. It welcomes regular flights from the United States and Canada. The flights from Europe are assured in high season only by Eurowings, Nordwind Airlines or Wamos Air (no direct connections with France). It is better to bring something to eat, because there are few options on the spot and everything is overpriced!

The Dr Joaquin Balaguer airport also offers international flights, but only to the Caribbean. Be careful, the road to get there is not well signposted. AUTOBUSES METRO

It is possible to book a whole bus (capacity of 58, 54 or 16 passengers) or to ask for particular services during a musical tour for example. The Autobuses Metro website provides all the information you need for a successful trip: bus timetables, traffic information, online booking, etc. The bus routes run regularly and the buses are comfortable. You can be sure of a smooth journey.
AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL MARÍA-MONTEZ

This small airport was used for some time as a runway for international aid to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. The site is named after the famous Dominican actress Montez (1912-1951), who was born in Barahona. No restaurant service on site.

Departures are usually from Santo Domingo's Parque Independencia station, or from Parque Enriquillo. METRO
Read moreTwo lines are currently in operation. Line 1 serves 16 stations, or 14 km, between Centro de los Heroes (south) and Mama Tingo (north). Line 2 serves 18 stations, or 13.9 km, between Marià Montez in the west and Concepcion Bona in the northeast. Stations are identified by their large blue capital "M". The metro runs every day, and is reliable and modern.
Four new lines are planned for the coming years. Three French companies won the tender: Alstom, Thalès and Siemens, and the CIM/TSO consortium.
EXPRESO BÁVARO
Read moreBus service between the capital and Bávaro-Punta Cana. The buses are comfortable and punctual. Perhaps the best way to travel between the capital and the Bávaro-Punta Cana area. The trip takes three hours and the buses have air conditioning. Perfect if you don't have a car.
