MARTIN BROD
Read moreBy way of welcome, ruined houses and a bridge destroyed during the war replaced by another, "provisional", since 1997: The arrival at Martin Brod is not very engaging. But, in the valley, the view does not deceive: This is the most beautiful village in the national park.
ĆELIJE - ENTRY N° 3
Read moreThis hamlet in the village of Orašac is the closest entrance to Štrbački Buk's waterfall: 5 km northwest by the same asphalt road. It has a few houses scattered along the Una facing Croatia. Among them, two accommodations among residents: Huco & Rasema (++387 61 71 85 14) and Vasva & Hazim (++387 62 07 93 84).
ĆUKOVI - ENTRY N° 2
Read moreThis village has lost half its population since 1991 and has only about 200 inhabitants today. On site, some shops and accommodation (Kula - near mosque - ++387 60 35 028 60). From there, you can access the villages of Kulen Vakuf and Martin Brod, as well as the waterfall of Štrbački Buk through a 4.5 km (English-language signage and signage) path through the water source of Bukovac.
GORJEVAC - ENTRANCE N° 1
Read moreLike many Bosno Serb villages in the region, he was deserted after the last war and has only a handful of inhabitants. From here a carrossing path (recommended to 4 x 4 and "solid" vehicles) of 14 km leads to the waterfall of Štrbački Buk. After 4 km, a 5 km trail for hikers and cyclists provides access to Mount Ljutoč.
LOHOVO - ENTRANCE NO. 6
Read moreThis village is the closest entrance to Bihać and the starting point for many descents of the Una in rafting or kayaking. There is a small information center and several accommodations and restaurants, but no residents of the year. Lohovo was populated by 90% of Bosno-Serbs before 1991, and the entire population fled at the end of the last war. If the entrance is free, it is because the road stops following the Una 3.5 km further south. There is also a border crossing where crossings are not too frequent and controls are not too long. If there is a vehicle insured to enter the EU, Croatia can continue to Nebljusi (10 km south of Lohovo). At the exit of this village, on the left one trail (4 x 4 recommended) passes through the forest reserve of Una Mamea where the hamlet of Donji Štrbci is located with a camping, then the waterfall of Štrbački Buk. The point of view is also beautiful.
GREAT WATERFALL OF THE UNA (VELIKI VODOPAD NA UNI - ВЕЛИКИ ВОДОПАД УНИ ВЕЛИКИ)
Read moreLess impressive than Štrbački Buk's, it is the highest in the national park, since the UNA makes a jump of 54 m, but thanks to a wooden bridge financed by the EU, you enjoy a beautiful panorama on this set of water, rocks and lush vegetation. On the downstream side, an old abandoned mill will perfect the décor. By taking the opposite path, then turning left into the "main street", you will find a pedestrian suspension bridge that runs the UNA and allows you to admire another series of waterfalls. The street continues to Martin Brod Railway Station. Traffic has ceased since 2010. The line linking Bihać to Knin, Croatia, could, however, reopen in the years to come after renovation. As much as it is, because its zigzaguying route on the border offers a fabulous journey along the UNA.
