It was built under the reign of Trkvo I, after a fortified first town under Stjepan II (1322-1353), and became the city of the kings of Bosnia. It contained the crown jewels. Bobovac falls in 1463. The citadel had walls of 1 100 m long for a thickness of 120 to 150 cm.
