CHURCH OF PETROPAVLOVSKAYA

Religious buildings

This building is a perfect example of an orthodox temple built according to the criteria of ancient Greek architecture. Before being in stone, a wooden church was there, but the building was destroyed during a storm. The new temple was built in 1844 and restored twice. Until recently this place of worship housed a house of culture; Due to the sound acoustics of the building, concerts were held there. The temple has since returned to its first use.

CLIMBING MOUNT HOVERLA (ГОВЕРЛА ГОВЕРЛА)

Natural site to discover

With its 2 061 m it is the high mountain of Ukraine. The climb of the mount, which is one of the most popular hikes of the Ukrainians, is not particularly difficult. Initially, the trail follows the road of Yaremche towards Vorokhta and Zaroslyak. You can walk on foot or borrow one of the many Mar с hroutk hadžić that cover these destinations. 7 km south of Vorokhta you will see a fork and follow the road on the right towards Zaroslyak. The climb starts from the tourist base of Zaroslyak. The summit is easily recognisable to the Ukrainian flag proudly drawn. From 1 400 m, the path is surrounded by fields of wild flowers and grass. Here you will find a small source of drinking water. At the top, the only trees that grow are dwarf pinnacles. The vegetation on the west side of the mountain is far less green because of its exposure to warm air masses from the southwest. The summit offers a superb view of the other summits. Some plates of snow resist in summer. It is at the top of this mountain that Ukraine knows its worst time: cold and snow all year round. Moreover, the name of the mountain, of Hungarian origin, means "the snowy mountain". But this does not prevent 24 000 Ukrainians from climbing it every August to celebrate Independence Day.

PUSHKIN STATUE

Columns and statues to see

E's bust is proudly mounted. The history of this man is closely linked to the city. Indeed, his writings had been censored, he had experienced an exile in Crimea in Odessa and then in Chisinau. Count Vorontsov was appointed governor of the «new Russia» (he had his winter residence in Odessa and summer in Yalta— the famous Palace of Count Vorontsov). This is an illustrious character of particular hatred to Pushkin who had the audacity to make the court to the wife of the Earl. He gave him the task of simple secretary, when Pushkin was already known throughout Russia as a great poet. In Odessa Pushkin wrote several poems, such as the Fontaine Fountain and The Gypsies. He also started his famous Eugene Onegin. The Odessites are very proud of Pushkin's passage in their city, which is why a stele bears the inscription: " À, from the citizens of Odessa. " Not far from the monument is a cannon, in memory of the Crimean War, during which a wing bombed the city in 1854.

ASKANIYA NOVA NATURAL PARK

Parks and gardens

it is one of the most surprising and original places in Ukraine. The German baron von Val @ had the crazy idea in the th century of forming a unique nature-safari reserve in Europe on the steppes of Ukraine, bringing the most original animals. On 2 300 ha, the reserve includes a zoo, a biological garden, and, in exclusive terms, preserved virgin steppe, only place in Europe where the steppe retains its original appearance. We discover more than sixty species of birds, from Australia's black swan in the ostrich, but also from llamas, zebras and emus. To note, this is the only place in Europe where you can see American buffalo. Moreover, there is also the famous horse of Prjevalski, discovered in 1879 in Mongolia by a Russian explorer that gave him his name.

The writer Tolstoy used to stay in this small village. It is also from Mishkor that you can climb at the top of Mount Preston-Petri. SEASIDE RESORT OF PARTENIT (ПАРТЕНИТ)

Natural site to discover

A seaside resort east of the Bear Mountain. Archaeologists refer to the human presence in the surrounding area since the stone age. The village of Partenit is mentioned in writings depicting Greek history dating from the th century. The village became the centre of an anti-Kazars uprising in the th century led by Bishop Ioan Gothic. One legend tells us that the relics of the latter, died in Asia Minor, returned by a miracle in Partenit to be buried in St. Pierre and Saint-Paul temple. At the time of the construction of the road in the th century to access the village, the ruins of the Basilica of the Holy Apostles were discovered. We found the soil in mosaic, the remains of foundations, walls and a tomb that was supposed to be Gothic, even if it was empty then. Despite this rich history, Partenit now resembles a modern seaside resort. If you do, don't forget to climb the Ayu-Dag mountain, a beautiful natural reserve.
