It was built between 1864 and 1882 by the Czech architect Hlavka, who tried to distance herself somewhat from the classic Viennese style for a construction closer to Byzantine style. So his style is unique. This red brick building was originally used to house the Metropolitans metropolitans. Beginning in 1875, a university settled there, becoming one of the first universities in Ukraine. Then, under the Soviet era, it will only serve to shelter all the university classrooms.
