Souvenir and handicraft stores sell a lot of leather goods (sandals, handbags, wallets, briefcases, travel bags) mostly in burgundy or black with traditional designs, jewelry and colorful raffia baskets in all sizes, placemats and straw hats... Tailors also sell cotton shirts, woven on site. If you want to know how leather goods are made, take a look along Bazaar Road.

This picturesque market is the largest and most central in the capital. Spread out along Kojo Thomson Street, between Kinbu Road and Pagan Road, it is as colorful as you would expect from an African market. Apart from food products, you can find a little bit of everything, from hardware to clothes and all the daily accessories. Communication with the vendors is fairly easy, so a visit to the Makola market is a cultural activity in itself and a good way to get to know Accra.
