For a long time, the Parisians had this theatre of nine hundred and ninety places under the name of Eldorado. It is also known as a first room built here in 1858. The history of the Théâtre des Blancs-Manteaux began in 1972. A mecca for café-théâtre humor and non-conformist chanson, it has welcomed Renaud, Jacques Higelin, Alex Métayer, Michèle Laroque, Virginie Lemoine, Marianne James, Anne Roumanoff... Today, humor is still the strong point of this small theater, which comprises two rooms, each with around one hundred seats. The first is housed in a vaulted cellar, while the second is fully tiered.

The theater's name refers to a former venue located nearby, at 50 rue de Malte. Opened in 1866, it disappeared in 1967 after having been one of Paris's leading music-hall venues.
