The Dahabieh or Dahabiya is a type of traditional Egyptian sailing boat. The name "Dahabiya" means "small golden boat" in Arabic, and it is often considered a symbol of luxury and elegance.

Historically, the Dahabiya was used as a means of transportation for wealthy European tourists visiting Egypt in the 19th century. The boat offered a comfortable and scenic travel experience, sailing on the Nile with white sails and ornate wooden decks.

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Steps: Le Caire, Louxor

Upon arrival in Luxor, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your dahabiya,


Lunch, dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2: Cairo - Luxor (Karnak Temple - Valley Of The Kings - Hatshepsut - Memnon) Board the Dahabieh

Steps: Louxor, Esna

Breakfast and start of the cruise to Esna.


Visit of the temple of Esna, dedicated to Khnum and Neith. The construction of this temple began under Ptolemy VIII and ended during the Roman domination, under the command of Claudius and Marcus Aurelius. The temple, still partly buried, is located on a ground 10 m lower than the rest of the city.


Back on the boat for lunch and continuation of the cruise to the island of El Hegz where the boat will stop for the night.

Day 3: Esna - El Hegz

Steps: Edfou

Breakfast, then sailing to Edfu.


Excursion by horse-drawn carriage to the temple of Horus further inland. This sanctuary of the falcon god Horus is both the largest temple of the Ptolemy dynasty and the second largest temple in Egypt after Karnak. Inside, the intact paintings, inscriptions and reliefs make it the best preserved temple in Egypt.


After the visit, return to the boat for lunch and continue the cruise to the island of Bisaw where the boat will stop for the night.


Free walk in the island and dinner on the shore.

Day 4: El Hegz - Edfou - Bisaw

Steps: Kôm-Ombo, Assouan

Breakfast and departure for the visit of Gebel Silsileh, both archaeological site and the most important sandstone quarry of Egypt. Placed under the protection of the god Hapy, this quarry provided the sandstone for almost all the temples of Upper Egypt. On the western bank of the river appears a sanctuary dug in the rock, dedicated to the god Horemheb and to seven other deities, thus the local god Sobek.


Lunch on board and discovery on foot of the old quarry before continuing the cruise to Kom Ombo. Dedicated to two deities, Sobek the crocodile in the south and Horus the falcon in the north, the temple has a perfectly symmetrical architecture. Erected on a hill by three Ptolemies, the complex of Kom Ombo is surrounded by a wall covered with reliefs.


Return to the boat to continue up the river to Aswan for dinner.

Day 5: Gebel Silsileh - Kom Ombo - Assouan

Steps: Assouan

Breakfast on board, then departure for the visit of the temple of Philae on the island of Agilka, one of the most beautiful sanctuaries of Egypt. Started by the pharaoh Nectanebo I during the XXXth dynasty and completed by the Romans, it is the main sanctuary dedicated to Isis.

Return to the boat for lunch.

Day 6: Cruise disembarkation in Aswan ( Temple of Philae ) - Cairo

Steps: Le Caire, Esna, Assouan

Breakfast on board.


Option: Private transfer from Aswan to Abu Simbel by air-conditioned vehicle for the visit of the legendary Temples of Abu Simbel, (approx. 3 hours drive). The fabulous Temples of Abu Simbel, built by Pharaoh Ramses II. They reflect the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The great temple is dedicated to the three main gods of the Ramesside era: the sun-god Ra-Harakhty, Amun of Karnak and Ptah of Memphis, not to mention the king himself who was worshipped here as a god. This temple is also called "Temple of the Sun of Ramses II".The small temple is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, it is also called the temple of Hathor, who was the wife of the Sun King. UNESCO has played an important role in the protection and relocation of these two monuments endangered by the construction of the High Dam.


After the visits, return to Aswan for lunch before resuming the navigation towards Esna, where you will arrive in the night.

Day 7: Excursion to the Giza Pyramids - (Egyptian Museum OR Museum of Egyptian Civilization (Mummy Museum))

Breakfast, then visit the necropolis of Thebes on the west bank of the Nile, followed by the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, where the tombs of many New Kingdom pharaohs, as well as their families and nobles in favor, continue the visits with the Colossi of Memnon, the last vestiges of the temple of Amenhotep III and Deir el Bahari, the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Carved out of the rock in the mountain of Thebes, this temple with three terraces built in -1455 is both harmonious and modern and although dedicated to the god Amun, there are also chapels of Anubis and Hathor, the protective goddess of women.


Return to the Dahabiya for lunch.


In the afternoon, visit the southern part of the ancient Thebes, where the temples of Karnak and Luxor are located. The two temples are connected by a dromos, a long alley lined with sphinxes, and are dedicated to Amun.

Day 8: Departure

Steps: Le Caire, Louxor

Breakfast on board.

According to your flight schedule, transfer to Luxor airport. Assistance with boarding formalities and flight to Cairo. The C La Vie Egypt representative will welcome you at the Cairo international airport and will accompany you to your hotel in a modern air-conditioned vehicle.

At the hotel, he will help you with the check-in formalities and will give you all the necessary information for the following days (meals, departure times...).
