Day 1: Lower Austria - Along the Danube - 33,8 km (one way)

Steps: Krems An Der Donau, Melk

From Melk, the bike path runs northeast along the river for about 30 kilometers. On the way, you will discover the towns of Mautern and the unmissable Dürnstein. The end of the path, or the moment to turn back, is a magnificent viewpoint on the Danube(Aussichtspunkt auf die Donau). The path then continues to Krems, for those who do not want to turn back. For those returning to Melk, the Wachau valley and its vineyards will not disappoint.

Day 2: Burgenland - The Neusiedler See lake tour - 74 km (loop)

Steps: Podersdorf Am See, Illmitz

From Mörbisch am See, in the south of the lake, you can take the ferry (€7) to cross the lake to Illmitz. From here the route heads north through the national park and along the eastern side of the lake to Podersdorf am See. Breathtaking views on the way back down the west side of the lake on a bike path in the middle of nature.

Day 3: Styria - Lake Thalersee - 69,2 km (loop)

Steps: Graz

Despite the proximity of the lake to Graz, this route is recommended to enjoy the beauty of the region. Starting from the main train station in Graz, you drive north along the Mur past the curious Murinsel in the city center. The road continues through several villages to Kleinstübing. The road then starts to head south towards the lake. For about 30 kilometers, we cross the Styrian countryside, discovering the villages of Grossstübing, Sankt Pankrazen and Reiteregg before heading east to Graz, enjoying the Thalersee lake along the way.

Day 4: Upper Austria - Around Linz - 20,2 km (loop)

Steps: Linz

From Linz main station, take Blumauerstrasse to Europaplatz. From there, Frankstrasse leads to the Danube until it crosses the river. The river then flows northward to the Pleschinger See lake, making for a pleasant stop. The route then continues along the Danube via Ferihumerstrasse to the Nibelungenbrücke. The city center of Linz is now just a stone's throw away.

Day 5: Salzburg Region - Wolfgansee Lake Tour - 27,8 km (loop)

Steps: Sankt Wolfgang, Sankt Gilgen

From Sankt Gilgen, a nice walk around the lake starts southwards towards Strobl, a small village on the water. There are many stops along the way to admire the mountainous and watery landscape. After a break, the trail continues around the lake to Sankt Wolfgang, one of the main villages on the lake. To return to Sankt Gilgen, the ferry is accessible and, on sunny days, a small cruise on the water is not necessarily a bad idea. Otherwise, the route continues via Brunnwinkl to return to the starting point.

Day 6: Carinthia - The Wörthersee lake tour - 46,7 km (loop)

Steps: Klagenfurt

From the center of Klagenfurt, one follows the river westward along the Tarviser Strasse. After crossing the Europapark, the Strandweg is a pleasant road to take along the waterfront and passes through the pleasant town of Pörtschach. Then, the seaside resort of Velden am Wörthersee stands at the western end of the lake. The beautiful village of Maria Wörth can be seen on the Süduferstrasse, which runs along the southern part of the lake, before heading back to Klagenfurt.

Day 7: Tyrol - Loop around Telfs - 83,7 km (loop)

Steps: Ötz, Telfes

Of course, the mountainous roads of Tyrol are not recommended for beginners. From Telfs, after crossing the Inn, the Tiroler Strasse heads west through typical countryside to Oetz, a beautiful village in the heart of the valley. About 15 km to the east, you reach Kühtai, which at 2,020 m allows for a pleasant break to (catch your breath!) and admire the view. On the way back to Sellrain, a 4 km section is shared and limited to 100 km/h, so special attention is required. From Sellrain, the road heads north again towards Martinsbühel. From here, the road follows the river Inn through Inzing and back to Telfs.

Day 8: Vorarlberg - Lake Constance - 69,2 km (loop)

Steps: Bregenz, Hard

From Bregenz, it is possible to visit three countries and one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe in one day! From Bregenz, the bike path runs north along the lake to the German border at the river Leiblach. The path continues to Lindau, a charming peninsula and tourist attraction of the lake. From there, we go to Wasserburg and then to Langenargen (its castle is worth a visit). From Langenargen, we take the ferry to Arbon in Switzerland. The little cruise on the lake is pleasant on nice days. From Arbon, you can easily follow the water via Rorschach before crossing the Austrian border at Rheineck and returning to Bregenz via Hard.
