The creation of a food market in Malmö had long been a dream for Martin and Nina Karyd, the siblings behind the place. Being foodies themselves, they felt that the city lacked something like this. So when the old Gibraltargatan goods warehouse, which had been empty since the last train left in 1955, came on the market, the duo seized their chance. Today, Saluhallen, the covered market, is the place to go for a quick bite to eat and there is something for everyone

Cod is the local bar in Strömstad. We eat, drink, dance, in short, we meet there for a little atmosphere in the village. We have a superb view on the port and the sea. As far as the restaurant is concerned, the Cod serves classic dishes, with barbecue, hamburgers and fish & chips on the menu, but also the "hangover menu" for the aftermath of a difficult evening. Throughout the summer, the bar also organizes parties and turns into a nightclub. Pop and commercial music, but sometimes small concerts take place as well.

The first Twin City restaurant opened in Sweden by these two twins who were separated at birth and met by chance in the streets of Minneapolis, USA, and then decided to unite in their passion for cooking. This establishment, located in a large green house in Hamnparken, serves, in the Twin City tradition, a cuisine that shares Italian and American origins. In summer, the terrace is recommended, but the interior is also bright and well laid out. Depending on the season, the place also proposes afterworks where the locals rush.

A retro, 1950's style cafe with fantastic burgers! You'll find period furniture and the 1959 AMI jukebox plays 45s by Elvis, Vince Taylor, Lill-Babs and Rockin' Sam. Every detail of this restaurant, down to the smallest teaspoon, dates back to the 1950s. The menu is extremely well-stocked, with a strong emphasis on home cooking. Freshly brewed coffee, homemade cake, large, plump baked potatoes and giant hot sandwiches (raggmunk) are on the menu. Not to be missed!

Located in a small street off Stora Torget Square, this restaurant serves fine, typical Gotland cuisine. In its warm and intimate dining room, there is a wide choice of specialities, including lamb fillet with hazelnut sauce or the very typical saffron pancake. There is also a nightclub. During the summer months, a number of more or less famous artists perform here. The property covers 900 square metres, spread over three floors. There are several bars and numerous dance floors.

A bright house with a soft atmosphere in the lanes of Visby. Meat and fish dishes around 200 to 250 Sek. The cooking of meat is perfect and local potatoes, apart potatis, are a real delight! Impressive wine and whisky menu, as well as a good selection of cigars, to be enjoyed on the heated terrace.

During the medieval week, grilled lamb with potato gratin, salad and bread is served in a paved courtyard. There are large wooden tables where you can eat as much as you like. You can also eat in a rustic dining room with a glass roof. The traditional Christmas buffet (Julbord) starts at the end of November. This address is mainly recommended in summer. To get there: On route 136, exit at the roundabout, direction Löttorp, and continue to Horn. You will find well-cooked food and good drinks at Lammet och Grisen, a restaurant that was founded by the Richert family in 1969 and has been continuously improved over the years. In the large, low, white plastered house, a beautiful light filters into the huge room where you sit down with great hunger. On the menu, lamb and pig grilled whole; if you want to imitate Obelix, this is the time! The atmosphere is friendly.

The hotel offers comfortable accommodation in an old building. The rooms are large and nicely furnished, and the hostess is very accommodating and kind. We don't hesitate to ask her questions if we need information about the area. In general, the staff cares about the guests and that's good!

A few steps from the hypercenter and just in front of the pretty Caroli church, this family-owned restaurant is ideal for a relaxing moment between two visits. In a warm atmosphere, you can either curl up in big velvet armchairs or sit at a big rustic wooden table. The food is homemade and inexpensive, and the menu offers a wide choice of mixed salads, hot or cold sandwiches, and of course a large selection of pastries for a proper fika! In summer, you can enjoy a charming terrace.

Nestled under the arcade that borders the many bars on the street, Kelly's is a favourite place for young people and students to go for an evening beer. It is also where you can find some of the cheapest pizzas in town. Wide choice on the menu and a loud and cheerful atmosphere. The vegan and vegetarian options are very fashionable and successful, so don't hesitate to order them. A good place to spend the evening and why not meet new people and have a party!

The Cello Café has everything to please: a surprising and anachronistic decoration, good and cheap Lebanese food, an endless list of salads, pizzas, lasagnes and pastries, a calm and relaxed atmosphere, a fast, friendly and smiling service. You come here to drink a cup of tea while picking up a book in the library, to connect to the wireless Internet while enjoying a carrot cake, to smoke shisha in the small room covered with sofas and cushions. In short, stop by, you'll eat well and feel good.

A must on the east coast. Ulrika Karlsson, a French-trained sommelier, offers delicious traditional cuisine and an outstanding wine list in this beautiful white house. The products are carefully selected according to the season, and the ethical management of livestock is taken very seriously. The wines are sourced from like-minded producers, and small-scale production is promoted with respect for the environment. Also offers lovely rooms for rent with breakfast included.

Nice little creperie, all in length, wood and white. It is nicely located on Wallérs Plats where many people pass by. The house in which the restaurant is located is very old (vestiges of the ^18th century have been found there) and its particular aspect makes it one of the most photographed places in Visby. The pancakes are very good and nutritious, for reasonable prices. If you want to stay a little longer, the establishment offers for rent a 60^m2 suite, immaculate, in the purest Swedish style.

One of the only places in the old town where you can eat cheap (and very good) pizzas, drink a cold beer brewed in Gotland (Visby Kloster is recommended) and play billiards in the big room at the back with its medieval vaults. The dining room is pleasant and looks directly onto the eastern rampart and its large door. A whole wall has been decorated in the style of a modern living room with shelves, an aquarium and a large flat screen that broadcasts - very often - sports channels. A place that attracts curious and regulars!

In a grandmother's living room atmosphere, you can warm up with a fika or a small dish. During the nice days, you can enjoy the picnic tables in the surroundings. Indeed, the café-restaurant is part of a complex of red houses where there is action. Hiking trails, artisan workshops (jewelry), a small open-air theater, concerts and... blueberry harvest! The garden of Sundsby säteri, that is its name, is quite charming and exotic.

If there's one place to have a fika date in the neighbourhood, this is it. In this cosy little lounge with its thousand traditional pastries(semla, kannelbullar, but also kladdkaka sprinkled with pomegranate seeds or raspberries and a breakfast buffet), it's the ideal place to take a little break by the light of the candles that dress the tables in a soft glow. There are also goat cheese and walnut sandwiches, köttbollar (Swedish dumplings) and other delicacies. A real treat, not to be missed if you are in the neighbourhood!

In this covered market (well laid out and pretty), each counter offers daily dishes at low prices (Swedish cuisine - 85 SEK at Björfågel for example - but also Japanese or Italian). Even vegetarians will be satisfied at Vegeriet (dishes between 59 SEK and 75 SEK) and the more curious at Gröna Deli where you can try a piece of salted salmon cake. On the road between Halmstad and Varberg, a gourmet break is necessary in Falkenberg in the bakery-café that was once the home of the town's mayor, Anders Lundberg (1820-1912). This local bar got a facelift a few years ago, but has lost none of its cachet or reputation. You can find all sorts of homemade dishes, simple and hearty, and sometimes more daring creations, like the fish and seafood gratin with leek sauce! In any case you can eat well and cheaply, in a warm atmosphere and surrounded by locals. The place is also well known for its beers, so we don't hesitate to come there in the evening to eat and taste the last pint of the house.

On the island of Hisingen, which can be reached in 9 minutes from the central station of Göteborg, get off at the Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen stop (streetcar 6 or 13) to enjoy this "good deal" address. Indeed, the quality-price ratio is excellent! The dishes served are mainly of Swedish inspiration, but with an Asian twist. Familjen is a friendly restaurant with a large, modern, design room. The terrace, which overlooks a small, quiet street, is particularly pleasant in fine weather. Decorated with care and in warm tones, this trendy place wants to make customers feel "part of the family". The cuisine is typical of Western Sweden with a real contemporary touch. In direct contact with producers, the restaurant favors short circuits, and the menu is designed according to locally available products.

This café located at the top of Avenyn was, in the 1940s, the stronghold of students and penniless actors. It has since become a tea room that is always crowded. If you can find a place, you can eat delicious sandwiches and drink tea from huge cups. One of the walls of the small room is entirely occupied by a fresco of an old couple walking in the shady alleys of Lorensbergspark. One comes here for the atmosphere and to observe the life of the young locals who meet there to pass the time.

Opposite the little church of Sainte-Marie, not far from the station, push open the wooden door of this small family restaurant.
