CAFÉ DU QUAI

Crperie
4.5/5
2 reviews

This café owes its reputation to its traditional Breton crêpes. Savory, sweet or flambéed, they can be enjoyed at any time of day. We particularly recommend La Terroir with red deer sausage, blueberries, onion confit and sauerkraut, and Breizh with salted butter caramel and brandy flambé. Salads, sandwiches and paninis are also on the menu, as are organic fair-trade coffees (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and its exclusive beer, La Marée Haute, a Saison brewed by local microbrewery La Chasse-Pinte.

LA CUISINE

Bistro and brasserie €€
4/5
2 reviews

A hip and popular restaurant specializing in bistro-style cuisine. Chef David Janelle, a native of the region, likes to juggle flavors and quality products: bison gravlax from Ferme Junique au sapin, sweetbread walnut puff pastry with Hydromel du Fjord, roast duck breast from Québec, blueberry tart from Lac-Saint-Jean, etc. The menu is rounded out by an excellent wine list. An excellent wine list completes the picture. An address not to be missed, where the emphasis is on regional products (the restaurant is a member of the Ambassadeur Zone Boréale network).

BISTRO D

Bistronomy €€

A very popular Chicoutimi restaurant offering two distinct experiences. The first is the bistro, where market-fresh dishes are concocted according to season and arrival. For example, you can enjoy swordfish tartare with lime sour cream and chips, followed by Îles scallops and Nagano pork belly. Then there's the sandwich side, where you'll find naan with pulled pork or a ham and brie baguette, all enhanced by a home-made charcuterie section where everything is prepared and aged on the premises. A must-see!

ANANAS MON AMOUR

Bistronomy €€

Some people know the famous Pineapple My Love hot sauce, one of the sauces concocted by La Boîte à Sauce in Alma. A few years after its creation, the small resto-buvette was born in the heart of downtown. If the restaurant was originally focused on tacos and quesadillas, the menu has since evolved with gourmet dishes in which Quebec products are in demand, especially seafood in season. The wine list is really sublime, presenting wines from here and elsewhere. We love it!

À L'ORÉE DES CHAMPS

Regional cuisine restaurant €€

À l'Orée des Champs is the offshoot of an agricultural and forestry company established in Saint-Nazaire since 1925 and still owned by the same family. The only rural table in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, it first of all symbolizes the pleasure of eating. There are gourmet brunches in the magical setting of the mornings in the countryside as well as a delicious and refined table d'hôte made from the farm's products, including lamb, the house's great specialty. To be served with a glass of their specialty alcohol, the cream of camerawomania.
