STERK
Read moreAre you missing something when the grocery stores are all closed? Sterk is a benchmark nightshop in Amsterdam. It's the place to go for late-night booze. Sterk offers a good selection of salads and cheeses, but also a long list of wines and spirits, including an impressive selection of champagnes. It has been a veritable institution since 1962. There's another address at Clerqstraat 7, with a pretty red-and-white storefront that can be seen from a long way off.

DENNEWEG
Read moreThe Denneweg is a charming and historic shopping street with a very British atmosphere. The ochre façade of the imposing Hotel des Indes marks the entrance. It is one of the oldest parts of the center but also one of the most seductive. The stroller will not tire of the beautiful windows of the antique stores, the decorators and the latest fashion stores. It would be a shame to pass by without stopping for a drink or a bite to eat in an Eetcafé while watching the strangers stroll down the street. Perfect to get a taste of the Haguenoise atmosphere.
DELICIOUS FOOD
Read moreGeneration 2.0 caterer, Delicous Food sells food that's both good and healthy. The setting, made of blond wood and large transparent pots, invites introspection. Nuts, breads, tapenades, fruit and vegetables - you'll find it all here in bulk, and this quality unfortunately comes at a price. A good address for gluten-free products, it's a must for responsible shopping after or before a trip to Noordermarkt. The bulk products are varied and we really like them. On the other hand, there's still a lot of plastic elsewhere.
THE WINESPOT
Read moreOf course, the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular celebrate beer rather than wine, but wine has been gaining ground in recent years with specialized bistros and stores. The Winespot is one such place. It's the ideal place to pick out a great bottle of wine with the help of Paulo or Filipe. As they're not purists, they also sell locally brewed beers and some really excellent chocolate bars. Winespot is located in the city's western quarter, on a lively thoroughfare.
POLABERRY
Read morePolaberry is Polina's pretty baby, offering beautifully decorated chocolate-covered strawberries and berries in a frame made for Instagram. These sweets are so pretty you'd almost hesitate to eat them! Polaberry is a typically cute and kawai shop. Just look at the hordes of visitors who are fans of Polina, who jostle and reproduce her poses with her chocolate bars in front of the channels to collect likes and followers. Note the superb plant wall at the back and the exotic armchair.
ARNOLD CORNELIS
Read moreAn excellent patisserie with sweet and savory cakes and delicacies to enjoy on the terrace for tea time. Chocolates to take away too. This address is a very Dutch concoction, with a fairly classic decor featuring stained glass windows and traditional details, and lots of wood throughout. The tarts are works of art in their own right, and at Saint-Nicolas time, from mid-November onwards, the colorful chocolates are as much a feast for the eyes as for the taste buds. A fine address also to be found in Jordaan on Rozengracht.
BAKKERIJ WOLF
Read moreWolf is a double address in the 9 straatjes district, the bakery-pastry shop and the café-restaurant. We visited the bakery and tasted its excellent products. The sandwiches are generous and filling. The vegetarian beet and cheese sandwich is a real delight. The cheese croissant is also excellent. The cakes are also excellent. The bread is firm and heavy, but very soft. The uncluttered decor is the work of Anne Claus Interiors. We love the atmosphere and the view of the ovens. Don't miss the adjoining café.
PUCCINI BOMBONI
Read moreWhen Ans van Soelen and his daughter Sabine opened their first store in 1987, their aim was to make every "bonbon" (Dutch for "chocolate") a unique experience. And they succeeded! Since then, this highly sought-after address has offered ultra-sophisticated chocolates presented like jewels and crafted by a 100% female team. The scent of cookies and muffins is so strong that you can't resist entering... The choice is immense and you'll find chocolates to suit every taste. A dangerous address for chocolate addicts...
CHOCOLATERIE DE LELIE
Read moreGourmets won't be able to resist this establishment's succulent chocolates. Not only can you buy them to take away, you can also make your own. Dark, white, milk, almond, praline and more. There's something for every taste! You'll soon become a chocolate addict... We recommend you visit this address during Easter or St. Nicholas' Day. You won't believe your eyes or your taste buds. Beware: this is a dangerous address for your waistline. A must for Delft gourmets.
SIMONEHOEVE
Read moreLa Simonehoeve is an original cheese and clog factory. You can stroll through the clog factory to see how Dutch clogs are carved, and through the cheese dairy, where numerous cheeses are on display. You can taste and buy in the store from women in period costume. An ideal place for a truly authentic experience, where you can pick up many typical souvenirs, including a gouda-making workshop. The restaurant serves traditional Dutch lunches.
