The Franc-Comtois folklore, a preserved heritage

More traditionally, Franche-Comté has preserved its folklore thanks to a number of dance groups and associations that strive to promote local festive customs. The music of the Franche-Comté region combines a variety of instruments: accordion, fiddle and the Vosges epinette, a kind of zither that used to accompany fireside gatherings. To hear and see this local folklore, all you have to do is contact one of the groups that perform throughout the year, such as Correvrots in Lure or Gauch'not, a folk art company based in Luxeuil-les-Bains that still gets villagers and city dwellers dancing in authentic costumes.

The Eurockéennes of Belfort

While Franche-Comté boasts a fine cultural and traditional heritage, it can also pride itself on being a region that doesn't live in the past. Since 1989, one of France's biggest music festivals has been held here on the first weekend in July: the Eurockéennes. Over a four-day period, the Malsaucy peninsula plays host to some of the biggest names on the contemporary scene, who set fire to what has been dubbed the "little Woodstock of the Franche-Comté region". For almost 30 years, this festival has seen the likes of David Bowie, Ben Harper, James Brown, Alain Bashung, Jay-Z, Marylin Manson, Blur, Radiohead, Stromae, the Black Keys, Fauve... all performing at the highest level. The event has always been a great success, thanks to an ever more audacious line-up.

International Music Festival of Besançon

A major event in the world of classical music, the Besançon International Music Festival is a must. Even neophytes in this field appreciate the subtlety of this art. Concerts are given every day, featuring composers of all generations. Of course, the young conductors' competition, which is closely followed by the audience, is the most exciting highlight of the festival! Magical moments, always so well orchestrated!

Straw Festival

Métabief is white with snow in winter... and blond with wheat in summer. Since 2000, a group of music enthusiasts have organized an annual Festival de la Paille in July. 750 festival-goers attended the first edition, compared with over 25,000 today. The festival covers a wide range of musical genres: reggae, rock, folk, electro, trip hop, pop, blues and folk. A festival that counts both nationally and internationally. A new feature will be a quiet, secure accommodation area. Le Petit Futé is a partner of this event.

No Logo Festival

No Logo (in reference to Naomi Klein's book) started out as an independent reggae festival, with no subsidies or sponsors. It's solely the festival-goers who, every year, finance it and make it possible. Installed on the Forges de Fraisans site since 2013, it has become one of Franche-Comté's major cultural events. Counting 19,000 admissions in 2 days for its first edition, the event has grown steadily to over 40,000 now. The many festival-goers discover the department through music! And they're in for a treat! Since its creation, some of the biggest names on the international reggae scene have come to Fraisans: Jimmy Cliff, two of the Marley sons, Alpha Blondy...

Rockalissimo in Saint-Aubin

For over 15 years, a dynamic team has been organizing this festival, whose reputation grows from one edition to the next. Nearly a dozen well-known musical groups perform over 2 days in June.

Jura Baroque Music Festival

Over the years, the Festival de Musique Baroque du Jura has become an essential stopover for the great names in early music, who appreciate the quality of the event as much as its conviviality. Each edition of the festival is based on a choice of venues suited to the music to be performed. The concerts follow a route through the Jura mountains, where place and musicians are in osmosis, inviting music lovers to a great moment of rare intensity.

Why Les Gueules de Bois?

The very idea of the festival is to combine a festive, musical, cultural and sporting project dedicated to the general public, against the backdrop of the history of our heritage linked to the local wood resource. A musical program based around rock'n'roll music. True to its musical tastes, the Gueules de Bois team aims to offer a high-quality musical program featuring artists of regional and national renown. A festival linked to wood and its culture. The name of the Gueules de Bois festival is not only linked to the idea of festivities and a hard day's work, it is also intended as a link between artistic practices and the culture of wood in the Jura.

Scenes from the Jura

Throughout the year, Scènes du Jura offers a highly eclectic program. It's also a project that aims to interconnect the men and women who live, act and create in the region. More than just a venue for theater, music, circus and dance, Scènes du Jura is an invitation to come together. Joining forces means showing solidarity, supporting initiatives, creating synergy and stimulating a shared dynamic. Joining forces means making contact.
