The best museums Zwalm

Full name is "Musée Royal de l'Armée et d'Histoire Militaire". Even if you're not particularly military inclined, this is a pretty interesting site, if only for the amazing Hall de l'Air, where some 130 airplanes are on display, from the beginning of things all the way to the Mig 21. History buffs should find plenty to chew on, from Napoleon times to WWII. A Service Educatif organizes special visits. Hail to the fallen.

A museum in a converted cellar with a display of some 1,200 Belgian beers and 400 foreign beers. There is also a collection of beer glasses, mirrors, enamel plaques and old advertising material. A bar in the middle of the exhibition area serves beer to visitors.

The Canada Poland War II Museum is a war museum located in Maldegem. Founded in 1994, it pays tribute to the Canadian and Polish soldiers who fought in the Second World War. The museum houses a unique historical collection featuring hundreds of complete uniforms and equipment of Canadian and Polish soldiers, presented in realistic dioramas. Most of the uniforms were donated by veterans and civilians. The museum strives to preserve this exceptional collection and to inform visitors about the uniforms and soldiers every year. The museum also offers school projects for children aged 9 to 14. In addition to the museum, visitors can also discover the Adegem gardens on the same site.

Located in Maldegem, Belgium, the Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo is a railway museum featuring steam and diesel trains running on the line to Eeklo. Housed in the former NMBS station, it offers a unique experience for train and rail history enthusiasts. Visitors can admire vintage locomotives and learn more about the evolution of rail transport. Prices vary according to age and ticket type, ranging from 8 to 15 euros. It is also possible to buy a family ticket for 39 to 45 euros, valid for 2 adults and 3 children. For an even more special experience, the Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo also offers meals on board the train with the Oriënt Dining Express.

Cycling is the Flemish sport par excellence. This interactive experience center brings to life almost 100 years of the history of this famous race that starts in Antwerp every first Sunday of April and crosses the Flemish Ardennes. Many archive images, virtual experiences like the epic of Paul Deman (first winner of the Tour of Flanders), with the sensation of riding on cobblestones! The entrance fee is quite high though.
