The Arvor cinema has been given a makeover in early 2021 by moving into one of the three Identity towers located directly next to the train station. It now has 5 rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 340 spectators. While keeping its Art et Essai programming line, this new Arvor will be able to offer more films and therefore expose (and enhance) the diversity of independent cinema. It is also easier to organize events and special evenings: debates, meetings, previews, thematic programs... as well as the now famous Sunday Night Film (once or twice a month), which is an opportunity to see or re-see on the big screen a lovingly selected cult film. The reception, with its decoration made of visible raw materials (wood, concrete columns...) also has a coffee area to wait pleasantly before a film or to debrief passionately with friends at the end of a session.

Housed in a brand-new building straddling the Cleunay and Courrouze districts, the Antipode is no half-measure. Its imposing monolithic structure includes two concert halls, one of which can accommodate up to 900 people, a creative workshop, rehearsal studios, spaces dedicated to artistic practice... and even a library. The history of this MJC is deeply rooted in the Cleunay district. A veritable institution in Rennes, the Antipode focuses on contemporary music and offers a wide variety of programming, including rock, rap, soul, pop, jazz, electro, hip-hop and metal, as well as a program dedicated to young audiences.

Cellule Grise takes us into two highly immersive worlds. Operation Balkans puts us in the shoes of a team of French spies on a mission in the middle of the Cold War in the 1980s. With a scenario and settings that are 100% original, Operation Balkans is an exciting, immersive and totally mastered escape that literally delighted the Petit Futé spies! For a more exotic atmosphere, opt for the new Cannibal Island scenario and go exploring! The scenarios are skilfully orchestrated by the game-masters.

A former Peugeot garage is the setting for this brocante, with its strong whiff of sixties nostalgia. Retro furniture, tables and chairs, all for sale, are arranged in the four corners of the store, from floor to ceiling, and make up the astonishing configuration of the canteen, which opens every lunchtime and some evenings. On the menu: homemade dishes of the day, including a vegan one, delicious sandwiches, tarts, toasted bagels, cookies, cannelés and other sweet treats. The menu changes regularly. It's an opportunity to enjoy a good meal at a more than respectable price, in the midst of a cheerful bric-a-brac that contributes to the friendly atmosphere of the place. The Black Bear is, as its name suggests, a manly place where serious spirits are offered (because we don't treat good whisky lightly!). Sophie, a trained cellar master, and Clément will welcome you with warmth and guide you towards a spiritual elevation because it is sometimes quite an art to know how to taste and appreciate the fruit of an ancestral know-how. A hundred references of whiskies are facing you behind the bar, like mystical books to be deciphered and a wide range of rums, some quality vodkas and 16 draught beers from Belgium and Czech Republic are on the menu. La Lichouille is a bar for chocolate lovers, to eat in or take away, which offers us a consumption experience around the chocolate bar... So when it comes to making a totally original creation, combining it with the cookie flavor, and crushing it inside a hot milk, the pleasure is intense. The meeting place for those who love four o'clock! La Lichouille also offers lunch formulas with sandwiches, salads, toasts or wraps as well as smoothies prepared on the spot in a wide choice of flavors that goes from orange to black radish, muffins or gourmet waffles... L'Alchimiste stands out for its unusual decor and its good atmosphere. The places imagined by the company Skêné Décor, author also of the decoration of the Saint-Patrick or of the Maison de la Marine in Cancale, make an effect and plunge you out of time. This is a Small and Not Great Britain pub! His name echoes an ancient Breton legend anchored on our shores. The City of Ys was based on the legend of the world's most beautiful city, built by King Gradlon, for his daughter. A city in which it is said that all excesses were allowed, made up of women, sailors, alcohol and party parties to the point that it would have been swallowed up by the waves to punish its people. So, in Rennes, we recreated an overview of this missing city Vasselot Street, and this bar has become a myth in turn. This stylish night bar is hidden in an old residence in the square of Champ-Jacquet. The framework is truly splendid: We celebrate or dance under stone vaults that give the basement a medieval vault air. The boss renovated this xivth century anti-atomic shelter to bring him to his taste, more lounge, during the summer of 2011. Formerly located in the city center, Le Bacchus café-théâtre has been given a new lease of life by the water. Housed in a wood, glass and steel building on the banks of the Vilaine River, Rennes' legendary café-théâtre has retained its intimate atmosphere, and is as pleasant for a drink as it is for a show. We're happy to share a board with a glass of wine (or more, as Le Bacchus is also a restaurant). While the great comedians and up-and-coming talents get their kicks performing here, on the spectators' side, our zygomatic muscles get a workout at every show.

Manuela and Gaëlle serve small dishes, bagels, soups, cookies, muffins and cheesecakes. Trained in one of the best bakeries in Rennes, they are determined to serve good local produce, often organic, at low prices. The menu changes weekly, with winter offerings including veggie fajitas with roasted vegetables and pumpkin velouté. There are also 2 rooms dedicated to teenagers from 12 to 16 years old to do independently.

Fancy a real coffee? At Café 1802 (the year the first coffee machine was created), it's a barista (Fred) who serves you! He knows coffee inside out, and knows how to prepare it, decorate it (the latte art is amazing!) and serve it at just the right temperature. Espresso routinely dethrones all other tastings, but here we learn that you can enjoy your coffee as mild as an infusion, making it aromatic and bitter-free (the secret of the Chemex), or strong and cold (thanks to the cold drip extraction method lasting 7 to 8 hours). A dozen coffees have been selected from small producers from Guatemala to Ethiopia, via Burundi and Colombia, and Renaud roasts them on site every week! At lunchtime, you can enjoy a cookie, a hazelnut banana bread or a slice of toast. The place, a touch retro, is calm and perfect for work or a break with friends.
