Just a few steps from the Alhambra Palace, more than its new, yet sophisticated Andalusian cuisine, its exceptional view of Granada and the Sierra Nevada has made its reputation. The glass gallery of its rustic room or the pleasant green terrace of this Carmen allows you to enjoy a permanent spectacle. It is best to come in the evening, when the city is illuminated to be served by hotel masters, always good advice about the good dishes of the day (well presented using puff) and the wines of the region, the most interesting. A good note!

CAFÉ FÚTBOL

Located in the heart of Granada, it is a historical site founded in 1922, after having been a milk depot since 1903. Pleasant thanks to a Belle Epoque decoration inside and a large terrace, cooled in summer and heated in winter. For four generations, we have come here when we are hungry for a little sweetness. If it is hot, we will opt for traditional ice cream and try the excellent Copa Fútbol with nuts, turrón and amaretto liqueur, its famous leche rizada, milk, ice cream and cinnamon or refreshing batidos, granizados and horchatas. The smart advice is undoubtedly chocolate con churros, the house's great specialty, to be discovered without moderation! And except for addicts, more when it's cooler.

BODEGA CASTAÑEDA

Spanish restaurant
4.2/5

THE historic tapas bar in Granada! Located in a typical place (very close to plaza Nueva), it is always worth a stopover! Its long room and long counter are always very animated by cheerful waiters and a clientele composed of locals and tourists alike. The dishes to share are monumental, the preparations and sandwiches (bocadillos) are satisfying, and a cup of tapas is always offered with each glass. Among the sure values are the inimitably bitter vermouth to be completed with gin and the homemade gazpacho, delicious! The one that was malfemous, we are told, during the 1980s, continues to be an essential and timeless institution with an atmosphere that remains as fascinating as ever. It should be noted that, less relevant, the second address Antiguas Bodegas Castañeda (C/ Elvira, 5), which offers a little more solutions for sitting down, has not been under the same management for some time now.

Launched in 1994 by Jean-Claude Juston, a Frenchman who wrote culinary guides, this restaurant was taken over in 2013 by two Frenchmen from the Basque Country, Brigitte and Michel, who maintained its position as a vegetarian restaurant offering a refined world cuisine, tajines, risottos... most often made with organic products. All this to enjoy in a pretty Berber house with a terrace. And for those who need a breakdown service solution in terms of housing, the workshop also has two guest rooms.

This former tavern (1917), moved near the town hall to Plaza Nueva and then a little further down recently, has a bar on the ground floor (with terrace) and a more elegant lounge on the first floor. Although a little touristic, but always appreciated by the people of Granada, Los Manueles remains a good place to eat raciones or snack on tapas. Taste gaspacho andalúz or salmorejo correct, famous tortilla Sacromonte, prepared meats or the typical dishes of the Alpujarras... Here, or even better, in its new nearby branch in the Hotel Monjas Carmen, the warm welcome is welcome, for the latter, in a quite modern and very quiet space, behind its bay windows or at the barra.

Near the Puerta de Elvira, here is a nice "healthy food" area with jazzy or flamenco music as a backdrop for delicious vegan dishes. In the cosy room sitting on benches or on the terrace in the shade of the parasols, you can choose among the specialities: pumpkin spaghetti with salad, avocado and parmesan, homemade pasta with a sauce of your choice or a wok of Asian vegetables, and chocolate truffles for dessert. The starters and main courses are quite copious. Accompanied by organic wines. Pleasant and relaxed service.

MIRADOR DE MORAYMA

Spanish restaurant €€

1 review

In the heart of the Albaicín, with an admirable view of the Alhambra, this table occupies a brilliant location in an authentic historical carmen, beautiful Andalusian villa, oasis as in the countryside. Named after the wife of Boabdil, the last Nasrid emir of Granada, who stayed there, it is one of the first establishments with a terrace to have settled in the district, more than 35 years ago! The Mirador de Morayma preserves a certain presence, sumptuous gardens and noble lounges with rustic decoration with period furniture, archaeological pieces and pretty ceramics... But the good reputation of this restaurant has also been made on its good cocina granadina, made within its walls from olive oil, exclusively organic..: fresh salmoreio, remojón salad (cod and orange) or pipirrana, crunchy asparagus with ham, sausage with tasty caramelized apples, typical Abadía Sacromonte tortilla, chicken breast stuffed with spinach, chuletas de cordero (grilled lamb chops)... As a dessert, choose from very good Arabo-Andalus-inspired pastries. As a bonus, a good wine cellar (including organic wines from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada) and another address with accommodation in the Alpujarras. Ring the doorbell, we'll come and open the door for the most attentive service!

Close to the Santo Domingo church and its beautiful place, efforts are made, both in terms of the framework and preparations. In a well-kept decor and a precious piece of food, with a view of the kitchen, the dishes are presented and made with know-how: some of the plats dishes (with a few new entries including a pastel of aubergines) and others more Andalusian or not (osso buco buco, orange sauce trout), with some personal touch. The service is pleasant and very fast, especially with regard to the menu, only false note: a rather mundane wine card. To discover with each one or each one.

An authentic and typical address at the end of the Albaicín (near Carniceros square), frequented mainly by locals. There is a wide selection of meats (sirloin specialties: solomillo), fish a la plancha and combination dishes, while at the branch on Pagés Street, a good assortment of tapas will do the trick. CARMEN MIRADOR DE AIXA

Among the very best restaurants with terraces in Granada and Albaicín, this family business serves excellent homemade Mediterranean cuisine using good local products, while offering breathtaking views day and night, with illuminations. A stone's throw from the Mirador de San Nicolás, facing the Alhambra, the space, a carmen from the Nasrid era, is distinguished, superb with almond and fig trees. On a garden terrace or in a rustic and elegant lounge, after fresh salads or soups (hot or cold, depending on the season) welcome, make way for very beautiful presentations in generous portions: cod poached with peppers and shrimps or gratinated in hollandaise sauce, chuletón de buey con calabaza al Pedro Ximénez (rib of beef with squash and Jerez natural sweet wine), brocheta con langostinostinos sweet sauce with Sherry. The side dishes are just as appetizing as the meat (veal...) and fish (many bacalao dishes). The wine list will delight aesthetes, international travellers or those from the local bourgeoisie (the two main components of the clientele of this carmen) with many references including wines from the surroundings of Granada such as the pago de Almares (red) or the mencal (white), with a good quality/price ratio. In an excellent atmosphere, at the Mirador de Aixa (pronounced Aïcha), the meals always end with sublime desserts such as the holjadre of caramelized apples (puff pastry) and the kind words of the very welcoming owners, Paco, Carmen and their daughter, escorted by a very good team.

With beautiful à la carte proposals and meticulous presentations. It is advisable to try the morcilla con cebolla, a deliciously seasoned pudding, flamenco, a homemade escalope filled with ham and breaded, and the cheeses of Montefrío, a goat with a justified reputation, accompanied by honey and jam. Which will serve as cheese and dessert. To be enjoyed in a charming setting decorated with old tools or on the terrace, very pleasant on sunny days. Close to the shopping galleries of El Corte Inglès, its refined décor, a tad precious white, grey and green, contrasts with large bay windows, a giant wine glass behind the counter, and a team in white costumes and traditional draw. The establishment of Gregorio García (assisted by his son), a leading catering manitou, flavour detector and incidentally former president of the Federación de Hostelería de Granada, has set itself the leitmotif of introducing sophisticated cuisine, using the most advanced and avant-garde techniques available at the time, while giving pride of place to top quality products. The bet is won in two dedicated areas, a gastrobar with well calibrated tapas and raciones and a chic restaurant for a more complete meal. Pizarra (eggplant with honey), huevos roto, lomo, homemade croquettes, good starter to share, the tender pulpo with fresh onions, hot potatoes and paprika is, as for him, very good, divine also the carpaccio de presa ibérica (piece of pork of choice) and liver with truffle oil or the half-cooked duck, without forgetting the roast lamb segureño, a sure value of the house to accompany good growth. In the end, a lot of creativity while keeping in mind the idea of making people happy...

On one of the largest pedestrian squares in Granada, facing kiosks of merchants of flowers and in Alcaicería (bazaar crafts), the grill room restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine, and traditional, Andalusian of good level, both in terms of quality and freshness of the products as presentation of the appetising dishes. In very pleasant summer terrace, as close to the passeggiata or granadine, or as elegant dining rooms and full of history, recovered well (columns, stone, beams, stucco...) with beautiful wine cellar and bar with tapas, on a map in different languages (do not escape!), you can indulge... For starters, by delectable scrambled eggs with boletus and foie gras, delicious fried eggplant with honey or the mozarabic salad or the bluefin tuna tataki. A lot of choice, also, in the large section dishes grace, in particular, with good grills braised accompanied by sauce (green pepper, mushrooms, roquefort...) and bread, octopus to the galéga, a fillet of espada's (fish sabres) to the oven or, according to the arrival, the roast suckling pig. Some pasta and pizza complete the list, especially for children. Mention for homemade desserts: pies with blackberries and almonds, tocino del cielo or piononos (specialities pastry chefs local). For wines (over a hundred, some are ordered by the glass), let yourself be guided by a very professional staff and references of Granada: white wine Calvente or red wine Deifontes fonte Dei, that delight!

GASTROBAR SIBARIUS

Very well located on the very central and commercial Place de Bib-Rambla, near the Alcaicería, the ancient silk market of the Nazarí era, it is a contemporary establishment, on two floors with mezzanine and welcoming terrace. Its concept: The Mediterranean cuisine of the market, merging with the nikkei, resulting from the coming of a Japanese community in Peru… Sibarius comes from Sibaritas (which means gourmet), drifting etymologically from Sibari (Calabria), a Roman city known for the quality of its services in antiquity. On the program, in a décor highlighting the nobility of wood, a new gastronomic experience with new flavors and based on fresh and natural ingredients: fresh oysters, delicious sushi, scrambled eggs in foie gras, vegetable tempura and lobster, tataki or almadraba bluefin tuna tartar, ceviccios of Saint-Jacques or bar, carpaccios, causa Limeña (specialty of pre-Columbian origin), parrilla topp and Asian flavors, Mediterranean and oriental rice, tuna or beef burger, mix of octopus and potatoes (paja), tartones, lamb rides of the Sierra de Segura, braise meat, homemade desserts served in small preserved preserved pots and cocktails. In summary: infinite touch of touch and detail to surprise the most demanding gastronome. In a relaxing and entertaining atmosphere accompanied by quality service and a cellar (in sight) of excellent wines, Sibarius and its elegant decor between now, in the courtyard of Granada's great restaurants. Bold and interesting address!

In the category "good restoration plans", perhaps among the best kept secrets of the granadina capital… Tucked in the "duck palace", this th century palacio-shop, hides a high-dress table, both in the kitchen (refined with fresh products), the service (applied and well informed) and the framework: modern gallery with fountain overlooking terrace in the outside garden. Admittedly the rates presented in this Senzone (name of restaurants in the Hospes luxury Hotel chain) are in keeping with the rank of the establishment but lunch or tapas dinner, as is customary in Granada and everywhere in Andalusia, remains very accessible. But, chut! We don't want to know too much, to keep the "exclusive" aspect. Behind the grids of this closed 5-star space, the spectacular urchin ballet ballet, on bed of large white salt, ris calf to season mushrooms, wild duck mallard or fish according to batch (like a San Pedro in the oven and its polenta) before ending with a flowing, bitter orange sauce… Presentation to point and innovative author cuisine… Privilege reserved for a rather international clientele or national (good families!).

If the Palenga has taken over the square since the early 2000s, it has been taken over since 2010 by the son Juan Jésus, who has maintained his position as a "traditional family cuisine" while giving it a fresh look, both in terms of decoration and on the plates.
