CAXIRI

Restaurant €€€

Overlooking the Theatre, it is on the floor of an old building that the service room of the excellent Caxiri is located, a Brazilian gastronomic restaurant with an inventive chef from São Paulo in the kitchen. From starter to dessert, you can enjoy very good preparations with Amazonian influences, elegantly presented, with a local fish, the pirarucu, as a star attraction. Beautiful wine list, attention to detail, high quality products and friendly service. Perhaps one of the best tables in the city, which is still worth its weight in gold.

CASA DAS ELEVEN JANELAS

Restaurant €€€

The visit to the Casa das Onze Janelas can be combined with a "gastronomic" stop in the restaurant of the cultural space. After an aperitif on the terrace facing the river, the vast service room, framed by ancient walls with irregular stonework and tables covered with white tablecloths, awaits the guests. The food is good, with skilfully presented seafood dishes and other simpler dishes. However, the prices tend to be a little exaggerated, relying on the undeniably enchanting setting of the restaurant.

RESTAURANT CASA DO PENSADOR

Brazilian restaurant

Opposite the Bar do Armando, Casa do Pensador has carved out a place for itself in the small world of Manaus restaurants. Close to the famous Manaus Opera House, right in the tourist and cultural heart of the city, Casa do Pensador offers cheap pizzas and typical regional dishes (fish, for example), as well as good beers. Service is sometimes a little slow, but the friendliness of the staff and the magnificent view of the Opera House more than make up for this.

RESTAURANT BIATUWI

Brazilian restaurant

Often, the observant visitor, whether Brazilian or French, is quick to point out the lack of visibility of indigenous culture in Brazilian and Amazonian metropolises in particular, or its "folklorization". The Biatuwi restaurant is the exception that proves the rule. It's a true gastronomic experience based on the culture of the Sateré-mawé and Tukano ethnic groups. Tasting insects, of course, but also excellent indigenous-style sambaqui. A very simple and welcoming place, reflecting the culture of the local tribes.

CUZCO DI CARAVELA

Seafood Restaurant €€

The former "Caravela do Madeira" restaurant has been transformed into a Peruvian specialty restaurant. The place hasn't changed much, with the view of the river as pretty as ever, although Andean-style tablecloths have replaced the old decorations. Good fish is still on offer, but in the form of traditional ceviches. Fish or shrimp ceviches, seafood ceviches marinated with lemon and Peruvian chili, now form the core of the new menu. More classic dishes are also available.

CANTINHO BAIANO

Seafood Restaurant €€

The Cantinho Baiano has been open for about twenty years on the banks of the Amazon River and has become a classic in Macapà. The fish of the region are, of course, the specialty of the house, despite the name which could suggest Bahian references. Pirarucu, a giant fish with delicate flesh, and tucunaré (giant Amazonian perch) are to be tasted. You can try the shrimp with bacon. The view on the wonderful Amazon River is superb. Ransom of the success, the restaurant is very crowded during certain periods of the week.
