ANDOUILLE ASSELOT
Read moreFounded in 1981, Maison Asselot is the most famous ambassador of the genuine andouille de Vire, regularly awarded laurels of excellence in regional and national competitions. The best andouille from Vire, or almost! Handmade from pork belly, smoked in traditional beechwood fireplaces for three weeks, then simmered in a broth, Vire andouille can be enjoyed hot or cold, as an aperitif or at the table. An ancestral know-how, dating back to the 18th century, to discover on our guided tours.
LES COMPTOIRS DE PIERRE
Read moreA wonderful family story that began with Chantal and Dominique, whose farm in Orbec is devoted to dairy production, cereal growing, and cattle breeding. Then comes son Pierre, who has created a free-range poultry farm and, in 2019, opened a pretty boutique dedicated to local produce in an old cider press on the edge of the D579. Here you'll also find the whole family's superb farm produce for direct sale. A counter that works wonders!
L'ÉPICERIE DE CAMBREMER
Read moreSince the summer of 2021, the couple Aurélie and Mickaël are the happy owners of this small corner of paradise 100% Norman. Everything in this charming store smells of the land. It exhales milk and cream. It smells of camembert, pont-l'évêque, livarot and neufchâtel. It smells of Caen-style tripe, and andouille de Vire from Asselot, mixed with the scent of apples straight from the stills. When one pushes the door of the grocery store of Cambremer, no doubt: we are well and truly in Normandy. And we leave with our arms full!
SOUS LES POMMIERS
Read moreA small gourmet souvenir shop that you will find at the end of the High Street, one of the most typical in Honfleur and contrary to what its name indicates, the lowest of the city! Indeed, it owes its name to the fact that it was above the sea that was lapping at the feet of the houses. Now that you're fed up with some historical know-how, it's time to pick up a few "Under Les Les" sweets to fill your basket. This is not the choice that is lacking: biscuits, candies and lollipops, cider from the Farm of the Parquets of Fourneville (which you can visit, it is two steps from here), Calvados, local beers, Isigny's caramels, Calvados mustard, foie gras de duck… There is everything, coming from the whole of Normandy. What one likes is the huge choice of miniature jam pots and their flavours as tasty as multicoloured (poppy, apple-calvados…) and mini soft drink bottles that allow you to imagine all compositions to be offered or enjoyed. Françoise and Jean-François are passionate about their small cave of Ali-Baba who naturally want to share everything from their land. Other originalities, more touristic, like the artisanal aperitifs with charming names "Shed your tour", "The Fisherman's aperitif", "Fly Pee" add a touch of humour to this beautiful, red and green brick house. Apple coloured, in sum!
J'IRAI REVOIR MA NORMANDIE
Read moreAli Baba's cave of Norman products. The gourmets will no longer know where to turn. Delicious Madeleines from Caen, caramels, cakes of all kinds, but also small gadgets and gift ideas, everything is there. As you walk along Avenue de la Mer, you won't be able to miss this shop with its elegant red exterior facade. The other side of the coin: the prices, sometimes a little excessive.

BOUCHON
Read moreA nice little shop, right next to the Initiative Union, where Corinne welcomes you all smiles. On the one hand, wines and on the other, greedy products. A woman merchant, it's rare enough to deserve to be interested! Her selection is well felt: all regions are represented, mainly with relatively affordable tariffs. On the cheese side, then good! From the local (the main Norman actors are present) and at least local (goat, feta, mozzarella, Roquefort, Cantal…). A nice collection of sausages from Spain and sausage, just next to the Cidricoles products (Clos d'Orval). To complete the table, the pâté, the (original) jams, the gingerbread, the farmers' eggs… are what to fill your basket and even make it profitable for your return. You can even order, Corinne sends you the package by post (in this case, forget the eggs!).
LE MARCHÉ DE LALIE
Read moreLuxurious, the boutique flatters eyes like papillae. The keyword here is 'quality' and necessarily, it has a price… Products are sorted based on the components: teas from Kusmi Tea or Dammann Frères, preserved fish from La Belle Iloise, olive oils from Les Baux de Provence, Dolfin and Cluizel chocolates, caviar from Kaspia, products based on algae. In short, the top of the basket of French gastronomy (and elsewhere), fit for fine palates (and well-filled wallets!). A word on the cellar, which we don't see right now but which is immense and worth its weight in bottles. It is a separate world, where all regions of France are represented. It is possible to find pearls, especially in Languedoc wines or to offer a Vosne-Romanée, poised in its piggyback… Added to this is a whisky range and a beautiful Norman selection where vintage calvados occupy a privileged place.
LA CAVE DE BEUVRON
Read moreA boutique housed in a former farmhouse, which focuses on the essentials. It focuses exclusively on local products, most of them AOC: cider from the Pays d'Auge, pommeau from Normandy, young, vintage or aged calvados, apple juice. Thierry and Michelle, the owners, will also introduce you to ready-made dishes, including rillettes, duck foie gras and Caen-style tripe. And for dessert, farmhouse jams, teurgoule, salted butter caramels, gingerbread and honey. For lovers of authentic produce and good food!
TRIPES VIROISES MICHEL RUAULT
Read moreGourmet friends, once upon a time, the best tripe in France and Navarre! At the end of the Vire, near the keep, the Ruault House has been producing tripe from father to son since 1955. In Calvados or Caen style, tripe can be found in this small shop. Many restaurants have made Ruault tripe one of their emblematic ingredients. And if tripe doesn't make you tripper, the house also concocts excellent terrines and country rillettes.
L'HEURE DES METS
Read moreA welcoming boutique where you'll find a wealth of local products (with an s), finds from Normandy and beyond. Loose teas and spices, ground and granulated coffees, blended rums, Italian pasta of every colour, apple juice, ciders and calvados from the Loterie de Clécy cellars, Normandy beers from the Odon (awarded a medal in Paris). Gift baskets, jams, boxes of chocolate: you'll find your arms full. In summer, try artisanal ice creams from the Haizerie farm in Vaux-sur-Aure. In winter, warm up with mulled wine!
L'ESCARGOTIERE
Read moreThe Helix of this breed breed for one purpose: land on your plate! In short-bouillon, à or forest, large-grey and small-grey are sold directly on the farm, itself present on the local markets.
PAUL DANJOU
Read moreFounded in 1897, Maison Danjou makes genuine andouille sausages, appreciated by connoisseurs. But did you know that the recipe for andouille has not changed - or only slightly - since the Middle Ages? And that it requires several stages: assembly, salting, placing in the smokehouse, then desalting and cooking? Yes, the andouille is to be deserved, you will be told at the store, which also proposes cobblestones of Vire (specialities of the house) and many other specialities of the soil. And if you live far away, don't panic, you'll get your andouille! How do you get it? By ordering by phone!
LES CALVADOS DE SOPHIE
Read moreAs soon as you enter this promising little shop, you are torn between the colourful and well-stocked shelves and the smile of the saleswoman. About fifty varieties of jams will make your head spin and countless calvados, as the name of the shop announces, will add to your dizziness. The jams are the work of Dame Rhubarbe, a good fairy who officiates a stone's throw from Honfleur, and who only buys her nectars from local producers. Stop on the flower of salt milk jam, much more subtle than salted butter caramel and definitely divine! Calvados are also more than fifty in number, divided between the Domfront tradition - a blend of pear and apple -, the Pays d'Auge PDOs with double distillation, and the classic and essential single-distillation calvados. From this visit, we keep a sweet taste: we dipped our finger in the jars or almost, and the welcome leaves a smile on our lips.
MER ET TERROIR
Read moreYou will find, here, a beautiful range of local gastronomy. Between land and sea, you will make a lot of discoveries as your basket fills up. But the Normans are not chauvinistic. In this shop, you will also find oils, teas, jams, fish soups. And that's not all. Also, something to complete your wardrobe, that of your children and grandchildren: seaside clothing with striped sailors' boats, oilskins, hats and sweaters (from major brands) and other souvenirs. And it's open 7 days a week, all day long. Ideal for a last-minute gift! Sandrine has just taken over the shop and promises (as we write) the opening of a welcoming tea room.
LE COMPTOIR DES NORMANDIES
Read moreJean-Yves took over the store a year ago (after rolling his boss at Coutances, Cherbourg and Bayeux) and actively dedicated himself to presenting the fruits of local know-how. His face is not unknown to you? Of course, he is the former Restaurant of La Pin d'Argent. The timing of cooking, the overheating buds, the impatient customer demand, prompted him to turn the page. Now he spends his job of relaxing time to find this and there are stellar coastal products known by mouth. Here, large and small are at the party. Orge of barley, jellies bay jellies, Mous-sur-Mer soft caramel, bouche-sur-Mer, and a thousand dry cakes are de pêchés of delicacies from the delicacies of delicacies in Caen fashion, terrine of farmer's bay, as well as rillettes of moutardées mackerel, as well as crystallized of moutardées mackerel, with crystallized jelly cider. Next to the consumables, you can also find the Tee t-shirts (Norman humour 10!) and a plethora of novels with enchanting titles, such as "Lethal Blackmail in Avranches".
CELLIER BORDELAIS - VINS BAYLE-CARREAU
Read moreThe sign at the entrance sets the tone: "We do not speak English honestly... You may not speak French fluently... Goal if it comes to wine, buying, we will be able to communicate perfectly!". OK, it is to speak Bordeaux that we come here (in windows, bottles up to 18 liters!)... but the store does not have its location at Falaise for nothing: they also sell Calvados, stuffy and gras bowl, for the most regionalists of us.
