The Cap Guéry mountain center is an outdoor Nordic activity center perched at an altitude of 1,268 meters. It boasts 58 km of classic and skating trails, 30 km of Nordic itineraries and 28 km of marked snowshoe trails. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, of course, as well as snowshoeing, dog sledding and introductory laser rifle shooting. Clermont Foot gained popularity in the early 2000s with the rise to Ligue 2. In 2019, the club was bought by Ahmet Schaefer, former assistant to former FIFA president Sepp Blatter. Contrary to other lakes, which are the result of volcanic activity, the water of Saint-Eloy-les-Mines has its origin in human activity. In the past, there was a stadium and a fairground here, which were engulfed in a mining collapse. After their closure in 1978, it was decided to embellish the landscape by flooding the galleries. Quieter and more modest in size than its counterpart in Clermont-Ferrand, the Chamalières aquatic centre nevertheless has a covered Olympic pool, a 40-metre wave pool (waves at set times), a slide and a range of water games on a large landscaped esplanade. Altis is an association created in 1998 by parents of intellectually disabled children. Their aim? To make leisure activities and adapted sports accessible. Its name pays tribute to the former mayor of Clermont-Ferrand and resistance fighter, Gabriel Montpied (1944-1973). Located in the Champratel district in the north of the city, it was inaugurated in 1995. This stadium is the home of Clermont Foot, a professional club that now plays in Ligue 1.
