LE RÉGAL

French cuisine restaurant €€
4/5
3 reviews

The best restaurant in Cape Town! After a culinary apprenticeship in Cape Town, various collaborations with Italian pizza makers and a few internships in France, Adrien serves up excellent cross-cultural cuisine in his restaurant-bar-pizza-caterer-glacier. We recommend the chef's speciality, stuffed crabs, tasty and spicy. Also on the menu are beef stew, monkfish blanquette and captain's fillets. The homemade desserts are just as succulent. At the end of the meal, it's not unusual for Adrien to come and greet his customers, for personalized service!

In this pleasant restaurant, well visible from the street, you can have lunch of a cheap and delicious dish of the day, and if you stay in Oussouye, you can order a Senegalese dish or game meat, the speciality of the restaurant. Paulin Diabone knows good hunters in the region who regularly bring him back rabbits, beavers, gazelles, various bushmeat... Enjoy! If you would like to meet the King of Oussouye, you can ask Paulin, who is a member of the royal family.

COULEUR CAFÉ

World cuisine restaurant €€
5/5

It comes from the world in the morning, attracted by the aroma of coffee, the real thing. For the traveller who has spent his time drinking hectolitres of instant and rather tasteless beverage, this is no small feat. One also comes here to have lunch in a magnificent flowered garden where a host of birds have taken up residence. A real corner of freshness where you can enjoy good little dishes such as a grilled prime rib. Couleur Café also has five rooms at the back of the garden, with satellite TV, running water, electricity and toilets.

LA PAILLOTE

An idyllic setting, succulent dishes, all in a subdued atmosphere facing the ocean. The restaurant de la Paillote is one of the best in the area! You will be personally welcomed by Christian, the owner, a Frenchman from Ziguinchor who takes great care of his customers. The menu offers a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to fish and pasta dishes, each one as excellent as the next. There is also a copious menu where lobster is king. Perfect for a romantic meal!

RESTAURANT LE FLAMBOYANT

The restaurant of the hotel Le Flamboyant, just across the street, is an excellent address, especially at lunchtime because the service is fast, you can eat very well, copiously and at reasonable prices. As a bonus, the staff is welcoming. You can opt for the dish of the day or a dish à la carte: we recommend the shrimps sautéed with spices as a starter, the grilled meat and fish and the delicious fresh fruit salad as a dessert. We'll be back here as in the canteen. Sandwiches can be ordered if you are going on an excursion.

LA CARPE ROUGE

If you have ever witnessed the return from fishing in Yoff, M'Bour, Saint-Louis or any other large port, you have probably seen its enormous goldfish or yellow fish, carried on their backs so imposing are they. They are endemic carps, of which this restaurant has made its speciality. René Gabriel Sadio prepares here the red carp in the oven (on order), a delight! You will also be able to taste excellent crabs stuffed Casamance-style, a tasty fish braised in the chef's way or roast chicken for those who prefer meat. Good value for money.

LE BLÉ D'OR

Takeaway food
3.5/5
2 reviews

Located close to the city centre, this fast food restaurant is popular with locals for its good burgers, fatayas and well-stocked pizzas. Also Senegalese dishes à la carte. The service is fast and pleasant, although it depends a little on the days. You can sit down to eat in a small ventilated room or on the roadside terrace. But you can take your dish away if you prefer. The establishment also has its own bakery and bakes its own bread, pastries and cakes every day. However, the quality remains poor.

LE KANGOULÈNE

Open since 1997, this small restaurant is much appreciated by the French for the quality of its dishes, the good humor of its owners and its ventilated indoor terrace. Without a doubt, this is the best steak frites in town. There are only a few dishes on offer, but you can also enjoy grilled chicken and beautifully cooked pink shrimps. Plates are generous and well presented. Sophie and Charles are welcoming people who also take good care of their customers. Excellent value for money.

RESTAURANT MA PINTHIO

World cuisine restaurant

Here's a very nice little restaurant where it's nice and cool to eat in the shade. It's run by a Senegalese couple, Pintchio and Dady, who give you a warm welcome. There's something for every taste and appetite, from local specialties to European cuisine, including fatayas and chawarmas. More than just a bar-restaurant, it's above all a meeting place for tourists and locals who enjoy talking to each other. At the height of the season, it's not unusual for the bar to host Senegalese parties, often improvised.

LA PETITE SUISSE

World cuisine restaurant

Set on the beautiful Cap Skirring beach, this sandy-feet restaurant offers a pleasant lunch break. Mamie, an outstanding cook from Carabane, concocts hearty fish, shrimp and meat dishes. You can also enjoy lobster, camerones or grilled crab if you order the day before. A few deckchairs and umbrellas are set up in front of the restaurant to tempt you to a siesta. Dinner is sometimes accompanied by an impromptu djembé party. For a memorable moment!

HÔTEL-RESTAURANT BAR DE LA MER

World cuisine restaurant €€

This restaurant, with its feet in the sand, offers good plates but some of them are quite expensive. We enjoy the setting, under the straw hut, and sometimes a very cheesy atmosphere. A man-band comes there to sing covers sometimes. Seafood platter for two with lobsters to order. The cheapest rooms are very decent, clean, air-conditioned, with a small terrace facing the ocean, but often full. Remember to book.

AUBERGE LE PALMIER

World cuisine restaurant

This large straw hut in the centre of the village is pleasant for dinner in the evening, and offers honest classic dishes (grilled fish, monkfish kebabs...), as well as European dishes of no interest. We like to go there in the evenings, to do some dance steps for dessert and meet the local people. Behind the restaurant, there are about ten rooms, some of which are air-conditioned, with basic comfort, in a setting without any particular charm. However, they can be an address of passage for small budgets.

World cuisine restaurant

Odette is a pleasant person, smiling and above all a very good cook! She has opened this unpretentious and well-kept restaurant with courage. She offers Senegalese specialities, shrimps with garlic, bush meat, grilled chicken, among other delicious dishes. The plates are generous and the dishes are renowned throughout the neighbourhood for their tasty flavours. Try not to arrive too late, as there may not be much left on the menu. We highly recommend if you're in the area!

LE PETIT QUARTIER - CHEZ AMANTHIA

World cuisine restaurant

This small restaurant, on the roadside, is a good stop for lunch. The menu changes every day depending on the products bought at the market or the fish from the fishermen. If you are lucky, you can try grilled warthog, a white meat similar to pork. The establishment also has a few clean huts, with private bathroom, scattered in a green garden. There is also a surfing school for surf enthusiasts.

LE PÉLICAN - CHEZ PACO

World cuisine restaurant

Paco's is a convivial place where you can enjoy good fish and seafood. Set on the fishermen's beach, his gargote has been there since 2007, despite the storm that damaged it in 2020. Paco always welcomes you with a smile, ready to barbecue crabs, sole, sea bream, red carp or even lobster. The menu changes according to the catch of the day, as he buys directly from the fishermen on the beach. Simple, tasty cuisine in the heart of authentic Senegal.

RESTAURANT ETHNIQUE MANDELA

World cuisine restaurant

A few tables are scattered around a large tree-lined courtyard, where it's pleasant to sit down for lunch. In the evening, you can dine in a spacious dining room, where evening events are held on weekends. There's no à la carte menu here, just what's available on the market. Fish, shrimp and chicken are often found on the plates, but it's not unusual to have bushmeat such as porcupine or antelope with the meal. The dishes are hearty and the prices very low!
