Events calendar Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Every year in Biarritz, harnessed and mounted trotting races take place throughout July from 8pm on a renovated 803 m sand track with right-hand rope. The meeting comprises 13 evenings, culminating in the Grand Prix de la Ville organized by the Société des Courses au Trot de Biarritz, chaired by C. Hassenforder-Chabriac. Each evening, races take place between 8.10pm and 11.30pm. The racecourse opens at 7pm, and the pari-mutuel betting windows open at 7:45pm.

Dates for 2024 night races: 2/4/6/9/11/13/16/18/20/23/25/26 (Grand Prix de la Ville) and July 30.

Every year in the month of July, the Golf de Biarritz Le Phare welcomes the most important and oldest of the French events reserved for amateurs. Played over 4 days and 72 holes, it is the amateur competition which is closest to the professionals.

The Fishermen's Port is in celebration, it is an opportunity to soak up Basque folk dances, to enjoy the different ephemeral bodegas, held by various associations in the city and to end with an unmissable toro de fuego. Beautiful evenings ahead.

This little party is organized in the Saint-Charles district. A friendly aperitif between inhabitants, shopkeepers, members of Esprit Saint-Charles is prepared around "vino & pintxos". These are offered by the excellent and historic food trades of the district.

All over France, the nights of July 14 and August 15 are sublimated by fireworks. Those in Biarritz are particularly appreciated, from the Rocher du Basta in July, and from the Rocher du Basta and the Grande Plage in August. You will witness more than twenty minutes of colourful and sparkling spectacle. Every year, Biarritz competes in creativity, pyrotechnic know-how and originality to offer breathtaking visual compositions. On the night of August 15, the large beach lights up under a thousand lights. A must see!

The Biarritz Piano Festival remains a major and unmissable event during the summer season in the Basque Country. It is a program always more awaited each year for mornings, evenings and nocturnes pianistiques. About thirty concerts await you with the new generation of performers from all over the world. Every year, an audience of music lovers comes to attend the piano festival. In parallel to the official program, concerts are given voluntarily "outside the walls" by artists in hospitals (Ehpad, hospitals...).

It is every year since 2015, the meeting of the best professional surfers on the planet! The International Professional Surfing Competition (QS 3.000), female and male of the World Surf League. This event was born from the common will of the city of Anglet and the WSL to put the town and the Basque Coast at the heart of the professional surfing qualifying circuit. It is now one of the most important events of the European season. The best pros come to compete on the famous spots of the Atlantic Ocean.

Open-air screenings of the latest surf films in the Jardin de la Grotte de la Chambre d'Amour in the evening, and daytime screenings at Espace de l'Océan. Each evening features a new concert, a food truck village for nibbling before the film screenings, and a fireworks display on the closing night to celebrate the festival's 20th anniversary. During the event, the Sportjam Surf Test will also give you the chance to try out the latest surf, surfskate and beach bike equipment.

The commune of Anglet has managed to develop its urban area to encourage outdoor activities. Benefiting from almost daily sunshine and pleasant temperatures, the town has opened up to the practice of cycling. The seafront is bordered by a cycle path, called Boulevard des Plages, which is 4.5 km long. Starting from the esplanade Yves-Brunaud, it goes up along the eleven beaches of the city, up to the beach of La Barre. From there, you can join the Adour river and pedal towards Bayonne on another cycle path along the water. The Boulevard des Plages can also be reached on foot. A total of almost 18 km have been laid out today. It's up to you to choose which beach you want to stop at!

For its^2nd edition, the Biarritz festival aims above all to reveal the cinematic talents of tomorrow, and put the spotlight on the work of budding, emerging and established filmmakers. For 5 days, a jury of artists under the age of 35 will share with the public theatrical and open-air screenings, concerts, exhibitions and meetings with guests of honor. The festival may just be the place to discover the great filmmakers of tomorrow.

As a tribute to the tradition in the United States where the winner was given a small golden glove, the Biarritz Athétic Club created the now famous Gant d'Or de Cesta Punta some twenty years ago, which delights amateurs and neophytes alike. It is true that to see the world's professional elite fighting on the "Cancha" of the jaï alaï (large open trinquet) in pursuit of a ball that can exceed 300 km/h is breathtaking!

The public is invited, on this occasion, to come and take part in the workshops, put on their costumes, carve pumpkins, participate in the lighting of the public garden, and to come and party at the Garden Party. No age limit to dress up!

Here we go again for the 6th edition! A very friendly trail located in Barcus, a small village in the Pyrenean foothills, on the border of the Basque Country and Bearn.

Beautiful ascents and descents on the program. To close this beautiful sporting event, meet up for a drink and a talo (a cornmeal cake) at the end of the trail!

A fun event in Palais, offering an impressive variety of games, from novelties to classics. Hundreds of games are presented, where participants can navigate from table to table and discover the rules with the help of a host. With its friendly spirit, the event appeals to visitors of all ages, and players are always on hand to fill out the tables. Game masters are also on hand for epic role-playing games. As an added bonus, a refreshment bar offers local produce at affordable prices.

This increasingly successful festival is unquestionably one for the mind. Meetings and debates around a theme bring together writers, philosophers, journalists and a public eager for reflection. "What is there to believe in? "A desire to live" "Rebuilding oneself". These events are part of the town's DNA. The event is free of charge, but booking a place is highly recommended. This former railway station, located in the heart of Biarritz, has been completely renovated and is just a 5-minute walk from other convention centers. Behind its facade, 1,400 seats with a 600 m² stage and a 127^m² screen and another 230 seats, ten rooms from 50 m² to 310 m² over 4,000^m² and a terrace and reception hall of 310 m² each. It is the venue for special events and festivals, making it one of the most sought-after venues in Aquitaine. With over 100 shows to its name, it also plays host to the stars and groups of the moment.

Vibrations and emotions are shared with this festival, which takes place at the end of June and offers astonishing musical experiences around the theme of percussion. The festival takes place at the Hédas, but events also take place at other venues in Palais (Foirail, media libraries) and beyond (Maison de la Musique in Montardon, Espace Daniel Balavoine in Bizanos). On the program: film-concerts, shows for young audiences, and of course concerts featuring world-renowned drummers and percussionists. This unique annual event in France has just celebrated its 80th anniversary. Two sessions follow one another: the Grand Prix which races modern cars (Formules 4, Cathéram and prototypes from French and foreign manufacturers) and the classic Pau Grand Prix which gives pride of place to old cars (such as the "pre-war" F1 or very chic GT models). The engines roar in the bends and make the eyes of thousands of visitors shine. Thanks to the new low-carbon liquid fuels, this event is now part of a sustainable innovation approach. From the paddocks to the city center, the festivities are going well during these two weeks of spring.

The 5-Star event in Pau is an exceptional annual event, attracting the world's elite riders and horses for 2 simultaneous competitions. As the only 5-star eventing competition in France, it ranks among the world's top 6 equestrian events. Often referred to as an equestrian triathlon, it puts equestrian skills to the test in dressage, show jumping and cross-country. The driving category is just as spectacular, offering a captivating marathon. The event also offers a festival of entertainment, with pony christenings, carriage rides, a gourmet area and a village of exhibitors. Each year, 40,000 visitors are attracted.

Pau-Rébénacq-Gourette: this is the triangle of the three stages of this extraordinary triathlon! A fabulous, awe-inspiring event, for which you have to run 19 kilometers, pedal 35 and ski 3. The race celebrates its ^37th edition in 2024, and is a legendary event in the Béarn region. Hundreds of participants compete solo or in teams, and the race is open to all: handisport, exchange between nationalities, crew exchange, early start for women. The day ends with a festive meal that brings everyone together.

The traditional and not-to-be-missed meeting place for bargain hunters every^3rd Sunday of the month! This event takes place in the heart of the typical Basque village of Ahetze, 15 minutes from Bidart and Guéthary. In this labyrinth of alleyways and squares, you're bound to find vintage porcelain crockery, that unobtainable vinyl record...; objects and furniture, often forgotten by the high-tech world, but reminiscent of the savoir-vivre of yesteryear.
