This tradition, which dates back to the Middle Ages, begins with the cremation of the Volatín, a figure made of wood and rags into whose mouth a firecracker is placed, supposedly representing Judas. The next day, in the Plaza de los Fueros in Tudela, thousands of people gather to witness the Bajada del Ángel (Descent of the Angel). In this ceremony, a child dressed as an angel runs up to a virgin covered with a black veil, a symbol of mourning for the death of Christ, and removes the veil to represent the resurrection of Christ.

Celebrations of San José coincide with the festival of the txakoli with Bakio. On this occasion, the txakoli flows freely in the town and is the subject of tasting.

Day of anchovies. For this occasion, the gourmet companies prepare 800 kg of anchovies that are served in the form of pintxos. This day, nearly 20 000 pintxos are distributed in the streets of the old town at the price of €!

During Zapato azule Saturday (blue), participants wear the traditional jacket of sailors of blue! On the programme: cycling race, fair at the t-shirts, procession of giants, bertsolaris and concerts.

High point of the patron San Antolin festival, the Day of the Geese (Antzar Eguna) is an old tradition of more than 350 years that has as many faithful as detractors. The principle? The water of the port, geese are hung with legs with a rope. The participants must cling to jump in charge of goose and book more possible for a long time with water, until the neck yields... Note that the geese used for this game and died in advance, but one has well those who find this game really ancestral...

This maritime festival is one of the most emblematic of northern Spain. It commemorates the ancient dispute between Bermeo, Mundaka and Elantxobe over the ownership of the island of Izaro. Legend has it that the municipality of Bermeo won the ownership of the island after an epic regatta. Since then, a maritime procession is celebrated every year on July 22, the day of Saint Mary Magdalene, during which all participants are dressed in blue. The day before, concerts, tastings and folklore demonstrations take place in Bermeo.

The Bilbao Architecture Festival! During 48 hours, dozens of buildings open their doors to the public and offer free guided tours.
