AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE RAS AL-KHAÏMAH
Read moreBuilt in 1976, and expanded in 2007, it has 2 runways over 3.7 kilometres long and 2 passenger terminals. Since Rak Airways suspended commercial operations at the end of 2013, Air Arabia has had the monopoly. There are direct flights to Cairo, Muscat, Doha, Jeddah as well as major cities in Pakistan and Bangladesh. In high season, it is not uncommon to see charter flights arriving from Eastern Europe.
AL HAMRA TAXI
Read moreThis company was founded in 2011 and operates over 230 taxis. As in the rest of the Emirates, taxis are metered and honest. You will find them roaming the streets, and of course in front of hotels. However, beware of the limousine syndrome, vehicles operated by private agencies and some hotels at much higher flat rates. In taxis, plan to carry small bills, as they rarely have change for large bills. The vehicles are well maintained and the company is directly answerable to the emirate authorities.
AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE FUJAÏRAH
Read moreBuilt in 1987 and located 1.7 kilometers from the center of Fujairah, the only Emirati international airport on the coast was 90% cargo-oriented, and also operated a few charter and private jet flights. But a second runway has just been built, along with a new 57-metre-high control tower whose architecture evokes a falcon with folded wings. With Salam Air launching 18 destinations from Fujairah, airport traffic is set to increase.
CARS TAXIS
Read moreTaxis run freely day and night in the micro-capital of Fujairi. In the evening, the improbable and cadaverous green-yellow colour of the cars is not appreciated. As in other emirates, they are metered and you can trust them, driving the customer is not part of their habits. If you want to go to another emirate, negotiate the fare and agree before boarding, and don't hesitate to get the hotel staff to talk to them and negotiate for you.
