Things to see and do Val de Saône Vingeanne

The present building was built between 1843 and 1863, on the remains of a convent, created in 1412 and that of the former hospital, built in 1505. What remains today are old elements such as a room for sick soldiers, found below the Sainte-Marie room. The chapel dates from the eighteenth century. Colourful stained-glass windows and a starlight ceiling. The more recent one of the nineteenth century is the apothecary- the pharmacy - has a fine collection of earthenware, utensils and treaties of medicine.

The former logis of the ducs of Burgundy, now town hall, is a brick building of the fifteenth century.

The library of Auxonne has a beautiful reading room dating back to 1850. The oldest books date from the end of the fifteenth century. Access to the library is done through the Xavier-Girault crossing, connecting Antoine-Masson Street to the place of Arms.

The barracks is divided into two sites: Marey-Monge on the left and Bonaparte right whose pink stone buildings of Moissey (in the Jura) date from the 18th century. These two squares was an artillery school then where Napoléon Bonaparte was student between 1788 and 1791: it is possible to visit the room on authorisation. The barracks welcomes since June 1956 €511 Regiment of the Train from the first logistics team, great unity of the command of the French land forces.

Organized by the Vallée de la Vingeanne association, the ^13th edition of the Rétromobile day devoted to vintage vehicles will take place on the occasion of the Journées du Patrimoine. A stroll through automotive history, with several hundred classic cars on display: a dream or a nostalgic experience for everyone. The magnificent grounds of the Château de Champagne-sur-Vingeanne are well worth a visit. Tours of the château are also available.

Maison de l'Eau, de la Pêche et de la Nature provides a better understanding of the environment of Val de Saône. With its four museum exhibition rooms, it allows visitors to discover local nature and fishing, thanks to modern equipment, audiovisual techniques, aquariums and various educational areas. The educational room has various documentary resources as well as observation and experimentation material available to the public. It is also a tourist information relay point. It is the starting point of the EcoPagayeur courses which allow to discover in an original way the fauna and flora: on board a canoe.

This fort mansion, built in the fifteenth century, was transformed in the eighteenth century into a beautiful castle with baroque style. In the nineteenth century, other renovations were made: the dormer windows of the towers are rebuilt in neo-gothic style, the stucco in the large lounge, vandalized during passage des Prussiens are renovated in 1870, completely. During the Second World War, the castle was requisitioned by the Germans, in order to place officers and services. They are the Americans who occupied it. In 1946, the castle is listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments. It belongs to the family of Saint-Seine. The welcome from the owner, Roland of Saint-Seine, is charming. During the visit, you will discover the chapel, the vaulted cuisine, the large lounge. A journey to the time of Louis XV! The interior is stunning: stucco walls decorated marble, ceilings 7-8 metres high, sculpted, gilded. The park, lined with Burgundy, is huge. It is possible to stay in the castle: 5 rooms are designed for tourists. Authentic, large, with a beautiful antique furniture, decorated by engravings and paintings over time, they overlook the moat and the park. A magical place, out of time.

The tourist office is located in the harbor master's office in Seurre, alongside the new quays. It has become an info point for boaters, cyclists and motorized tourists alike, thanks to its easy access. 2 guided tours of the town are available. The first includes a guided tour of the Musée de la Saône and the people of the Saône. The second takes you through the town's historic center, with its brick and half-timbered houses, church and old mansions.
