Hiking Vercors

On foot or with snowshoes, depending on the season. With or without donkeys, depending on your fitness level. Accompanied or on your own, depending on your level of fitness. Crossing the Vercors from Lans to the limestone ridges of the Diois, discovering Mont Aiguille, the Combeau valley, the Archiane cirque and the Hauts-Plateaux nature reserve, nomadic tours from yurt to yurt: the many guides at Vercors Escapade share their passion for the ridges and mountain pastures of the Diois region.

This superb hike can start from the center of Villard, the Lycée Climatique or the hamlet of Les Clots. The various itineraries converge at the Roybon hut, situated at an altitude of 1,450 meters. The Col Vert is just above this hut. On the final ascent, you can admire the Roc Cornafion, which rises to 2,049 meters. As the climb is entirely on the western slope, reaching the Col Vert offers a different view: Taillefer, Oisans, Belledonne and Mont Blanc are all directly in front of us.

Finally, when the beautiful days come back, the station transforms to offer you many other activities with its lift, in particular, which stops working. As a result, you can ride mountain biking without making any effort to make a good descent. Walkers will be able to enjoy their passion with numerous hiking trails - hiking accompanied by the day: 04 75 48 22 21 - and equestrian, but also sites for climbing, caving…

Supportive and friendly, the Buen'Aventure association, founded in Menglon in 2013, makes nature accessible to all by organizing adapted hikes in the Diois region. To do this, it has acquired joëlettes, single-wheel wheelchairs with a carrier in front and one behind. Three to four able-bodied hikers are needed for one joëlette passenger. Volunteers train family and friends to drive the joëlette, and provide accompaniment if required. You can also come for a walk, and it's all in good fun!

Many tours are possible in summer or winter with snowshoes. Montées at the Auberge de Roybon (not to be confused with that of Green Collar) and the Cabane cabin are beautiful hiking objectives. The most trained can combine both in the same circuit with a possible hook by Darbounouse.

In winter, spring and autumn, set off to meet the venerable trees on the old Col du Rousset road, for a guided nature walk to meet the giants of the Vercors, the hundred-year-old trees. Learn all about trees, their species, life and role, the forest and its flora and fauna. Other themes include life in the past and the Second World War. Physical training is all year round: whether it is raining, selling or snowing! If the motivation is not always high in winter, here is an activity that should quickly change your mind: the racket! At the start of the ski resort of Lu-la-Jarjatte, you will be immersed in a variety of landscapes, and you enjoy discovering Lady Nature in her great white coat. A chairlift ride out of winter season, to enjoy an extraordinary panorama at the top. Departure towards the High Plateaux of Vercors, you can go back down on foot by a hiking trail, or else: go up by chairlift with your mountain bike and ride down the slopes on the pedals. Be careful to protect yourself with at least a helmet. It is also possible to rent a Trottin'herbe at the foot of the slopes where helmets are provided. And off you go for a really fun descent. Great with family or friends to enjoy a good breath of fresh air!
