PASTICCERIA REGOLI

Patisserie

In the Esquilino district, this artisan pastry shop with its delightfully old-fashioned façade opened in 1916 and has been run by the same family ever since. The welcome is warm, and the window displays traditional Italian pastries, from crostata to torta della nonna . This is an address cherished by Romans, not least for its maritozzi, which are among the best in the Italian capital. If you're lucky enough to try one, you'll have to get up early, as they sell like hotcakes!

PASTICCERIA 5 LUNE

Patisserie

You have to look hard to find this tiny pastry shop, whose front is hard to notice, between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. But it is well worth the detour. Its quality pastries have won many hearts: the cream or fruit mignardises, the maritozzi (sweet rolls filled with whipped cream), its cakes and tarts are all worth trying! Everything is homemade, of course, and the choice is always varied. This pasticceria offers a cafeteria service to accompany the pastries with a drink.

MARTINUCCI

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream

Martinucci is the king of pasticciotto, an irresistible pastry from Puglia. Good news: the brand has opened a counter in Rome's main railway station! Succumb to Bari's pasticciotto or focaccia before catching your train. Admittedly, it's not a typically Roman sweet, but believe us, you won't regret it! There's also a fine selection of sandwiches. Martinucci is also one of the station's refill delle boracce shops, where you can fill your water bottle for €0.50.

LE LEVAIN

Patisserie

There's an air of French bakery-pastry here... And no wonder, since Giuseppe Solfrizzi, Le Levain's pastry chef, is one of Rome's leading exponents of French craftsmanship. Here, you'll find macarons, éclairs, galettes des rois and bûches, as well as a clever blend of French and Italian flavors, such as this irresistible croissant with gianduia or the cropizza, halfway between croissant and pizza! You can also sample typical Italian pastries, such as pasticciotto.

NEVE DI LATTE

Glacier

Neve di latte is one of our favorite ice cream parlors in Rome. The ice cream is creamy, the flavors are tasty and seasonal. As an added bonus, the brand makes a point of reducing its sugar content to a minimum, and offers vegan and gluten-free alternatives. We particularly recommend the chocolate-based flavors, which are to die for, as well as peanut and salted caramel. Many fruit sorbets are also available. And, as in every Roman gelateria , don't forget to ask for panna (whipped cream) on your ice cream!

VENCHI

Glacier

The temple of chocolate and gelati. Vencchi, which has been in business since 1878, delivers justly mastered sweets. Its Roman store is a pleasant stop to sweeten your mouth between two visits. If you have to choose, we advise you to first give in to the call of chocolate: the chocolate candies or the spread (with IGP Piedmont hazelnuts and olive oil!) are a success. As for ice cream, the choice is impressive, with many flavors available, including the delicious pistachio ice cream from Bronte.

COME IL LATTE

Glacier

A very good gelateria in Rome, where it's hard to choose your favorite flavor! Caramelized peanuts, chocolate, raspberry ricotta: the choice is vast and the quality is top-notch. The main ingredient here is fresh milk, which makes up 60% to 70% of the creamiest flavors. The artisanal cone is made in front of you and, as a bonus, you can add melted chocolate inside. Of course, we don't forget to ask for whipped cream to top it all off! An indulgence we can't get enough of.
