In the Esquilino district, this artisan pastry shop with its delightfully old-fashioned façade opened in 1916 and has been run by the same family ever since. The welcome is warm, and the window displays traditional Italian pastries, from crostata to torta della nonna . This is an address cherished by Romans, not least for its maritozzi, which are among the best in the Italian capital. If you're lucky enough to try one, you'll have to get up early, as they sell like hotcakes!
