Wine estates Midi-Toulousain

Bought at the beginning of the 20th century by the Gessler family, it is now Vanessa and Kevin, representatives of the^4th generation, who have the reins of the Domaine de Joÿ. The Gesslers have always been lovers of white wines, and they bring out the best in traditional grape varieties with great delicacy. Low-pressure pressing, fermentation in temperature-controlled vats and air-conditioning in the winery allow the wine to be matured gently and no sulphites are added. Folle-blanche and baco are also grown to produce the famous armagnac.

Magnificent residence, of regional and Persian style. A vineyard divided between tradition and modernism gives the best of its soil. The vines, managed in organic culture certified by Ecocert, are strewn with perennial flowers, lupins, fenugreek, oats, broad beans and other plants that transfer nitrogen from the air to the earth! This quality policy results in yields below the appellation limit. The king grape variety for Fronton wines, as for the estate, remains the négrette (called pinot Saint-Georges in the United States).

Founded in 1950, the Condom wine cooperative represents 1,356 hectares of vineyards. It produces flocs, the inevitable armagnac of course, and côtes-de-gascogne, not forgetting saint-mont. The "Val de Gascogne" group has joined forces with Plaimont Producteurs, and the cooperative is committed to bringing to life forgotten local grape varieties, such as the black Manseng of Moonseng, and markets the very rare Saint-Mont made from pre-phylloxera vines.

The wines of Domaine Le Roc are becoming increasingly popular. Here, the wines made from négrette are given intensity in the colour, while supporting the broadness of the fruit. Amongst the cuvées on offer, the Don Quichotte has a brilliant, deep garnet colour. A rich, floral nose and a fruity mouth... What happiness! The estate takes part in the Fronton fête le printemps festival, which allows you to taste its wines in various places in and around Toulouse. It also offers various events according to the season. This estate accompanies you from the Floc de Gascogne aperitif, through the harmony of rocky and powerful reds, small rosés or whites served chilled, and ending with an out-of-age armagnac that smells good of the terroir.Philiipe Fezas has been able to impose her high quality vintages: rewarded with 5 gold medals in 2015, at national competitions such as the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, the South-Western Wine Competition, and international competitions in Hong Kong or Canada.

Welcome to this family estate passed down by women from generation to generation since the 17th century. The spirit of heritage conservation has led the owners to open a museum where old farming tools are accumulated. The visit continues in the still room and the cellar with its huge oak rooms. Viticulture and vinification, animation of the museum, reception, marketing, here, each task is assigned to a member of the family.

In the 70's, the Romain family took over this very old estate, ripped out the hybrids and replanted with more noble grape varieties. The appellation Vins de Pays des Coteaux et Terrasses de Montauban was born. For more than twenty years, the sons Philippe and Thierry have been at the helm of this beautiful 70-hectare vineyard, and offer a very complete range of wines. Generous reds, very respectable whites. Rosés too, like the Syrah rosé which won a silver medal and the Mas des Anges rosé, gold medal at the Mondial du Rosé.

Marie-Ange and Jérôme Soriano welcome you to this estate of twenty-five hectares of vines, which they endeavour to cultivate with respect for its natural environment. They keep the spirit of the château they took over a few years ago and perpetuate the négrette tradition, with four red wines, all of which are AOP Fronton. Marie-Ange and Jérôme also venture down more daring paths, with, for example, a Dolce Vita rosé with floral scents to be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif, or a dry white with pear and grapefruit aromas.

Isabelle, Pascal and Philippe keep this estate alive with its 28 hectares spread over three terroirs. The result is a wide choice of appellations: Madiran, Pacherenc de Vic-Bilh, Saint-Mont and Côtes-de-Gascogne. Reds, rosés, dry or sweet whites, all palates will find something to enthuse about. The wines of the Domaine de Maouriès are regularly awarded in competitions and recognized by specialized guides. You can come and taste them on site and visit the cellars. You will then learn about the specificities of an HVE certified estate.

At the top of a valley, in the tranquility and beauty of the hinterland of Gaillach, these owners work their 26 hectares of vines according to sustainable agriculture, with authenticity and character, in particular the Thibaud cuvée, made from pure Brocol, and a late harvest, the Maxime cuvée. But that's not all! They also offer two botanical trails (1.5 km or 2.5 km) to walk through the vines and discover grape variety panels and boards showing the plants in the vineyard (as well as audio comments from mp3 players - comments in English possible). Domaine Vaysette is also a cheerful welcome, in a modern building that can accommodate receptions and seminars.

In the country of Saint-Mont, Plaimont will make you discover wines with a typical Gascon character. Created in 1979 by the association of the cellars of Plaisance, Aignan and Saint-Mont, the name Plaimont is their acronym. In 1999, the Caves de Crouseilles and Condom joined the group, adding to the basket the appellations Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, Madiran and the IGP Côtes-de-Gascogne. The emblematic "vignerons au béret" have succeeded in preserving a parcel of pre-phylloxera vines listed as a historical monument. It is 200 years old and can be visited.

Did you know that the city of Toulouse had a vineyard on its territory? Welcome to the Domaine de Candie, located southwest of the city. A medieval brick castle surrounded by a large park and a lake. The agricultural estate cultivates 25 hectares of vines whose grapes are vinified under the appellation of Vin du comté Tolosan in addition to 273 hectares devoted to field crops. You can buy grape juice and organic wines made from Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Mauzac grapes.

Nestled in the heart of the Côtes de Gascogne vineyards, the Château de Mons en Armagnac hotel-restaurant is an enchanting place to get away from it all. Built in 1285, this place steeped in history combines Gascon charm and modernity. In addition to its restaurant serving tasty local cuisine, the winery invites you to discover its 129 grape varieties and barrel-aged Armagnac. Ideal for family stays or business meetings, it's close to heritage gems such as La Romieu and Flaran Abbey. It's the ideal place to savor the authenticity of the Gers.

After having crossed a huge alley lined with vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see (hundreds and hundreds of hectares), a pretty Gascon residence imposes itself to you in all its splendor: it is the castle of Tariquet. The Grassa family has owned it since 1912. It is one of those Armagnac producers who have chosen to maintain the folle-blanche grape variety, the oldest in the region. They also successfully revived the Côte-de-Gascogne appellation in the 1980s, offering a range of high quality whites at low prices.

Château de Millet offers tastings and sales of its armagnacs, floc and wines in an enchanting environment. Cuvées and vintages are regularly awarded prizes in renowned competitions or quoted in specialist magazines and guides. The château also has a gîte for 6 people to rent. It is installed in the old dovecote of the domain. Do not hesitate to walk to the pond, which is a Natura 2000 site and shelters an exceptional fauna and flora (cistude turtles, cormorants, herons...).

Domaine Plageoles is 7 generations of winegrowers, 27 hectares and 2 farms: the Domaine des Très Cantous (Cahuzac-sur-Vère) and the Domaine de Roucou-Cantemerle (Castelnau-de-Montmiral). They produce white and red AOC wines, with a majority of white vines. In addition to cultivating mauzac in all its forms, Bernard Plageoles has brought back to life old grape varieties such as ondenc or prunelart. His natural vinification gives birth to beautiful sparkling wines (method gaillacoise), sweet and mellow, very characteristic.

Below the perched village of Puylaroque, the small road that leads to the Ariès estate narrows at a glance. After a final crossroads, two winegrowing areas face each other. On the left, we are in Tarn-et-Garonne in the commune of Puylaroque, on the right in the Lot in the commune of Belfort-de-Quercy, but everywhere in the territory of the coteaux-du-quercy appellation. We turn left, and knock on the cellar. The domain offers a narrow range of red and rosé wines, delicious wines made with sustainable agriculture, as harsh and cheerful as the country.

It is one of the last producers of the Lavilledieu appellation with very interesting red and rosé wines, well worth a visit. The dry white wine is also surprising since it is made from the Hamburg muscat grape. The estate also offers muscatel juice, verjuice, fruits, flowers, plants and herbs in season. Discover also the tropical greenhouse: a labyrinth of water and tropical plants, reminding the perfume of the islands, as well as many multicolored birds. A unique place in Tarn-et-Garonne.

The Villa Dria estate is renowned for its light, fine and fruity Côtes-de-Gascogne. This unusual name was given to the estate in memory of the time when the Romans planted vines in the region. They guessed that this land, composed of sand, clay and silt, pleasantly tempered and gently sunny, would be ideal for viticulture. Today, the main grape varieties of Gascony are almost all present, to give white, red and rosé wines that regularly win prizes in agricultural competitions.

The land and vines of Domaine de Cassagnoles have been worked for several centuries by father and daughter. Laure is now at the helm of the 60-hectare estate, which is farmed using sustainable viticulture and has been certified High Environmental Value since 2016. Mainly focused on Armagnac until the early 1970s, the estate has expanded and taken an interest in other grape varieties to produce flocs but also wine. The owners also offer delicacies such as fruits in armagnac or macerated in wine.
