CHAMPAGNE AVENUE
Read moreBehind the high wrought iron gates that line this remarkable site, you can admire the late 19th century mansions of the houses of Auban-Moët, Chandon, Maigret, Gallice, de Billy or Mercier. Today, the greatest champagne houses in the world, which make the reputation of the city, have their headquarters here and offer tours of the cellars with tasting at the end. A few meters underground, a labyrinthine network of nearly 110 km of cellars contains a real treasure: over 200 million bottles.

MUNICIPAL MUSEUM
Read moreThis city museum, with its admirable exterior, was founded at the end of the nineteenth century on the city walls. It contains 25,000 objects relating to three specific areas: archeology, ornithology and art melting. It presents, among other things, the beautiful Merovingian tombs that have been discovered in the region, completely reconstituted, and artifacts of all kinds, from the Iron Age to Antiquity. See also: Gallo-Roman glassworks, the magnificent collection of some 150 birds, the fossilized skeleton of France's greatest iguanogift or the enchanting iron statue Néréid of the Lescuyer collection. Each will be able to evolve according to the enriched rooms of the latest acquisitions and restored works. Once again, you can admire Hector Guimard's achievements and learn more about this haute marnese art. On the façade, Jacques Perreaut's Fortifications sculpture represents the old strong square of the sixteenth century. Unfortunately, it is regrettable that timetables are increasingly restricted.

CIDRE MUSEUM
Read moreHere, with 30,000 bottles year-round, we can claim to be specialists. The Hotte family (a name predestined to the country of Othe!) perpetuates tradition and preserves the remains of over 300 presses, which a time scattered the region. The décor is like the product: wooden grinding is a counter. The visit is free for the individual and guided for the groups, not to mention that Corinne and Gérard, the owners, are very available. They're having fun themselves with their old tools, and in September or October, it's the 17 th rush that's going to happen in the old, old-fashioned. Here, ciders and juice are 100% organic and based on local apple varieties exclusively. Special mention for organic apple juice silver medal 2018.
POD MILL
Read moreAs in the middle of a field, the Dosches mill is worth a visit after a hike in the East Forest Park. This mill, inaugurated in 2007, was entirely designed and realized by the association of windmills with windmills. The purpose: reproduce a pivot mill as there were 140 in the Dawn in the eighteenth century. Functional, it is used by sucker or animators to explain the manufacture of flour at the time. You can then watch the bread at the Dimanches in the countryside. You will first be welcomed in a beautiful barn, where the mill shop is also located. The walk in the garden around the site is also really pleasant. You can plan to spend the whole afternoon there. The association's website is very comprehensive and you will find all the information to prepare your visit.

WATER COURSE
Read moreThe city's waterways are one of the city's charms. The Nau complements the Petit Jard and the Market Castle, which is taking place in its waters. It then hides under Lochet Street to re-emerge the arts wharf, then conflue with the Mau, opposite the courthouse. The Mau, he enters the city by the Mauvillain Bridge, known for his arch in shell. It cools the gardens of the prefecture and reflects the wooden areas and the beautiful châlonnaises stones to the bridge of Putte-Savatte (rue Croix-des-Dyers). Then the watercourse disappears under the market square and comes back to the great day next to Notre-Dame-en-Vaux and recovers a little further the waters of the Nau. It was at this confluence that the port of the city was installed in 1377. The river continues towards St. Antoine Bridge or Submarine bridge to find the waters of the St. Martin Canal. The canal connecting Louis-XII to the Canal Saint-Martin and crossing the city leaves a tranquil meander in Jard, where fishermen settle. The lock becomes a show when a barge passes. Walks to make, bridges to cross…

A permanent exhibition is held here a stone's throw from the centre, on the second floor of the Maison du Patrimoine et de l'Architecture, using the most modern means to discover the history of Châlons until today. In the first area, visitors start the film by standing close to the screen: in ten minutes, they get a clear and general idean of the city's history... A geographical marker locates the elements that you choose on a map and allows you to draw your own itinerary. For children, a "material library" presents various building materials (chalk, cobwebs) and an interactive tablet offers games (puzzle, memory) around the elements of the heritage.

MUSEUM OF THE CLOISTER OF NOTRE-DAME-EN-VAUX
Read moreNo question of remaining safely! Behind Notre-Dame-en-Vaux, this museum brings together the remains of the medieval cloister built in 1170 by the canons of the college. The site was demolished in 1759 and 1766, leaving room for other constructions, which réutilisèrent stones carved into their foundations. In recent demolitions, fortuitous discoveries called for more systematic excavations. Thus, the cloister was partially returned to the surface and recollé. It was in 1978 that the museum was inaugurated. A reconstituted serving of tiers allows to admire the statues-columns and the quality of the sculptures. So we can imagine the splendour of this work of art. To visit it, no single ticket but a pass giving access to three museums.

MONTANUGA SITE

The site was once the site of Montaigu Castle, now disappeared. The route of Compostelle between Troyes and Auxerre also borrowed the path of the castle. Here, children are now taking pleasure in arbating the steep trails, picking up strands through wood, asking themselves in the openings… The most despicable will go out to ATV, with a possible departure from the ancient church of Laines-aux-Bois and a loop by Souligny. The place is perfect for picnics and ample enough to multiply walks but the evening comes, it is much less popular, and very isolated…
CHURCH OF ST. MARTIN
Read moreTo the left of Diderot Street, descending from north to south, an imposing building (twelfth century), with its five vaulted nefs. The present church is the result of several constructions of xiiie in the eighteenth. A fire in 1725 gave the langrois architect Claude Forgeot the opportunity to treat this pretty facade. Original, the bell tower, which is a bonded and graceful bell, does not seem to obey this symmetrical law that Forgeot had. It is developed on four levels, the Campanile is very open. This abundance of decoration details contrasts with the sobriety of the building, but adds a delicious Italian character.
