The place has a warm atmosphere thanks to the colours of the furniture and the hospitality of the waiters. The Greeks mix with the tourists in one of those cacophonies that one gets used to with a smile. Right in front of the port, with a beautiful view, one goes there rather to have lunch and to watch the maritime life.

It was in an 1830 building that the first generation of Archontoula began to serve its customers. The Miliens love this establishment and meet there as a family, on the rustic terrace, in the shade of the bougainvilleas. You can opt for the vast and spacious interior room, which retains the 19th century charm with its cement tiles, high ceilings and old village pictures. On the menu, a generous and copious traditional cuisine: mountain lamb, pork tenderloin with honey, grilled vegetables, local cheeses, mussels with saffron..

A recently decorated restaurant located on the central square of Fira. From its open kitchen, you can see the numerous Greek dishes made home, mainly with meat and vegetables. It also makes it possible to put water in your mouth and choose more easily what you want. Good value for money.

This choice tavern overlooks the port of Bali, and Greek dishes are served in the shade of the beautiful terrace overlooking the bay and part of the port. As the décor attests, fish and shellfish are king here. The octopus salad is very successful, grilled squid or swordfish as well. A pleasant way to gain height and admire the sea while accompanying a glass of raki or a cold beer with some of the dishes on offer. The prices remain reasonable despite the tourist boom.

The Avli restaurant is a small oasis set in the courtyard of an old house: one appreciates the setting, above all. It offers very good Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, at very reasonable prices, hence the rush that can explode in high season: we recommend booking in the early evening. Otherwise, it's better to get there late to escape the well-informed crowd. Try a traditional dish, such as lamb stamnas, cooked for several hours in the oven. A charming couple welcomes you in this small restaurant located in the main square of the pretty village of Kritsa. Traditional Greek dishes are served here: souvlaki, mixed meat, fried meatballs, cheese puff pastry, kebabs... all accompanied by dakos (toasted bread with tomatoes, feta, oregano and Kritsa olive oil). Don't leave without tasting the stuffed vine leaf salad prepared by the boss's mother. You can also have breakfast there. The products in the kitchen and the wine are homemade. Menu in French.

With its shaded terrace, this establishment is a simple and authentic Greek brasserie, just the way we like it.

Undoubtedly one of the best addresses in Parikiá and a place that changes from the usual Greek restaurants. The setting is very pretty, in a patio covered with vines. This address offers a refined menu where Greek traditions and influences from elsewhere are mixed (beet and ginger ravioli, fennel risotto...). This contemporary approach does good and changes a little from the classics that can be found everywhere. Chef Giorgios Mavridis elegantly receives guests in a pleasant inner courtyard. A very very good address.

We will concede that it is certainly not the restaurant of the corner which has the most taste as regards the decoration. Clearly, we flirt with excess! And yet, the place is honest and above all pleasant to enjoy traditional Greek cuisine, facing the sea, with a beautiful terrace and sheltered by a large patio and the staff makes great efforts to make the moment pleasant. An off-the-beaten-track address that never fails to fill up. This tavern has been in existence since 1948, as indicated on the front. It serves traditional Greek and Corfiote dishes, with fresh meat and fish. It's above all the picturesque atmosphere of the establishment, thanks to its proximity to the sea and the Greek families who eat there, that makes it a singular place. A little pricey for a tavern, though. The owner is adorable and speaks a little French. Delicious, typical and affordable dishes. A quiet moment by the sea.

This family-run tavern is the place to go for a meal in the village of Lakones. Like its neighboring establishments, it offers a small terrace with a breathtaking view of the bay and a wide choice of home-cooked dishes. Prices may be a little steep compared with other restaurants in the area, but there's a good selection on offer: stifado, lamb kebabs, the inevitable horiatiki, as well as homemade desserts such as the excellent lemon tart or the moist orange cake. Finally, the service is excellent.

Opened in 2012, this tavern-ouzerie which overlooks the quays (it can be reached either from the port by a small staircase or by the alley parallel to the port) is a real museum. The owner, Nikos, revives this family place where meat specialities prepared according to the traditional local method are served: wrapped in butcher's paper(sto ladoharto in Greek, literally "greasy paper") and fried (for fish prepared in the same way, you have to go to the Smyneiko restaurant on the ground floor).

Situated in a pedestrian alleyway, To Takimi is an authentic Greek taverna that's a hive of activity at all hours of the day and night. Whether it's its welcoming shaded green patio, its sky-blue beams or its typical wooden furniture, everything makes you want to sit down here, even before discovering the menu. On the plate, unpretentious but well-executed Greek and Mediterranean cuisine: octopus in sauce, grilled fish, cheeses... All palates should be won over. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes more festive.

This restaurant is perfectly placed, in the middle of the main avenue of Naoussa. One can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the street. And the owner is very friendly, as well as the team of waiters. As for the food, the mushrooms sautéed with garlic, onions and tomatoes are very good. The sautéed crayfish(saganaki) with ouzo, feta cheese and garlic, a great classic, are also very good. On the other hand, the seafood pasta is very dry, really disappointing. Nice restaurant, but a bit uneven.

Overlooking the sea at the foot of the Venetian fortress, the Thalassographia offers a splendid view and basic but good Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is housed in an old Venetian building that has recently been converted and renovated. For a meal, a coffee or a drink, the establishment is a guaranteed inspiration for your postcard break! The waterfront is trendy and enjoys a good reputation. The wind is more agitated there than anywhere else but the location, a little isolated, promises you an appreciable calm in Réthymnon.

Established in 1978, Kri Kri is a Greek cuisine restaurant offering excellent grilled meat (especially lamb chops grilled over a wood fire), fresh fish and various mezzedes of excellent quality. From its spacious and well-shaded terrace, with a panoramic view of the picturesque bay of Ormos, you can enjoy, among other things, grilled swordfish served with steamed vegetables and lemon sauce, with 500 ml raspberry and blueberry cider. Ask for advice on local wines. Impeccable service.

There are fewer than 30 year-round residents in Vati, fortunately untouched by the fires of 2023: Kostas and Toula have been offering delicious, traditional, high-quality cuisine for many years. We come here off the beaten track and away from mass tourism to enjoy a quiet lunch. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the dishes are prepared with taste and simplicity, without hiding behind superficial frills. Just ask for the katsikaki, a delicious kid with lemon. Vegetarians will be delighted too. Everything is homemade!

Traditional Cretan cuisine from father to son since 1930. Among the most popular dishes, baked lamb with potatoes, gamopilafo (pilaf with lamb: the typical dish served at weddings in Crete). The tavern is also recommended for its grills. In season, every Saturday, from 8 pm, the Cretan evening begins with traditional dances to the rhythm of the lyre and lute. The tavern is a real folklore museum where you can also buy local products to take away. Very good address.

On the beach, this is a place not to be missed in Kato Gouves. Both beach-bar and restaurant, people come here for the lounge atmosphere that reigns all day long and that becomes more festive in the evening. At the edge of an almost private beach with comfortable deckchairs, you come for breakfast, a coffee break, lunch at noon... The sunset invites you to a romantic dinner at around 8 pm. It is an elegant place as we like them, offering a light refined cuisine, at quite reasonable prices.

One of the best addresses in town. A good family restaurant that is dedicated to welcoming its customers at lunch and dinner, facing the sea. Excellent Cretan cuisine cooked over an olive wood fire, in an elegantly renovated setting. Different dishes of the day, usually organically grown. It is prepared with olive oil... but it is also a restaurant of meat, salads and fish. The traditional Cretan dishes are highlighted, with succulent snails, octopus and pieces of lamb. Very affordable prices. We'll be back, with pleasure.

This tavern is well located, a little out of town, a few meters from the sea, on the peninsula to the east. You can't miss it: a small caique is in front of the entrance of the establishment! When you arrive at Maistros, you can ask a question: "What is your boat? Yes, the fish here is very local and will have followed a very short route from Ioannis' boat to his son Antonis' plates. A few hours later, his cooking is delicious, the products are of good quality, fresh, and the chef undeniably talented. Try the squid stuffed with feta and tomatoes, or the eggplant revisited, all accompanied by a small Nissos. The terrace overlooks the beautiful port of Panormos.

A highly recommended address. You will find that all the dishes served here are (re)worked with finesse and elegance. The pinnacle of this work is found in the amazing version of pasticcio. And the recognition of these efforts appears in the Greek Taste Beyond Borders Award received in 2021 by owner Zacharias. Let's not forget to mention the location, a nice terrace by the beach of Pollonia, all elements gathered to have an excellent time here.

Open your taste buds wide, you're in for a treat. To begin with, you have to choose between sitting in an old grocery store, with a lush decoration made of luminous colanders, lanterns, jam jars and vintage cans, and the annex set up just across the street in a sort of barnum on stilts. In any case, you can eat very well for cheap: shrimps sagnaki, tarama, tuna rillettes, everything is to fall. Very good white wine also with the Antithessi produced in the Parissi winery, the best vineyard of the island.

This hut located on the beach is not lacking in charm. If you want to sunbathe while sipping a cocktail and contemplating the island of Naxos, you can rent a deckchair and its parasol. If you want to have a bite to eat, it happens in the restaurant. The decoration is made of wicker, the lights are carefully subdued in the evening, you feel good. On the menu? Pork shank with potatoes, sardines or mussels in ouzo with cherry tomatoes, fresh cream and gentian. Some rooms are available with sea or mountain view.

We are about to reveal one of our favorite addresses. The Thalassamou restaurant is located at the end of the beach, where it enjoys a royal isolation. We sit on the terrace or under the trees, with our feet in the water. The spot is charming but simple, you feel good. Marios Salmatanis, who revisits the local cuisine after training in France, serves incredible tarama, eggplant caviar, fava, sardines and guacamole, bruschetta, mussels with garlic and white wine, squid cooked in its ink... Everything is to die for. And it's not expensive at all!-

This beach restaurant opened in 1964 for bird hunters and is still run by the same family. It is typically the kind of beachside restaurant one would want to find on vacation. You dine with your feet in the sand and the food, although simple, is of excellent quality and prepared only with products from Paros. Don't forget to ask for the grilled fish, absolutely delicious. And the fava, beet and bread spreads are not to be outdone. Finally, not to spoil anything, the prices had the good taste to remain very low.

Ideally located, this restaurant overlooks the magnificent harbor of Hydra. As his name indicates, it is a ritual to contemplate the sunset. The food is of good quality, with a very varied menu (the meat from the Peloponnese is a real delight). It's worth a detour, at least for the sight and the frame that won't disappoint you.

Looking for the best view of the Caldera? There's competition, but you'll probably find it at Alali. This gourmet restaurant boasts an absolutely stunning panorama not only of the crater, but also of the surrounding cliffs, with villages gleaming white like snow-capped peaks. And the nine-course tasting menu is incredible: oysters with herb and kiwi emulsion, duck breast with rosemary, cod confit à l'égéenne... You're in for an unforgettable evening.

A great find, with low prices, off the beaten tourist track. This small tavern simply serves traditional and delicious dishes (salads, stuffed vegetables, stews). Almost all the ingredients (including cheese and sausage) are produced by the owners and you can feel it on your plate. Moreover, the house also sells some local products to all those who would like to stock up. And the welcome, in this flowered space, in the middle of aromatic herbs, adds to the charm of the place!

This is the ideal place for candlelight dinners in a palm garden - unique on the island. The dream, also because meals are served on large tables placed in isolated corners of the garden to preserve the privacy of each. Ideal for families (but not only), it features friendly hammocks and a giant chessboard. On the menu: salads and Greek classics, with rather generous portions. There's a lovely view of the sea and the property is very pleasant. The little extra when we dropped in: sticks of citronella essential oil, perfect for keeping the mosquitoes at bay!

The first customer came in over twenty years ago. The family likes to say they started with a few tables and the business has flourished ever since. This place had been recommended to us by locals because the food, we were told, was delicious, with breathtaking sunsets. Very true. We booked a table on the terrace. The homemade tzatziki was fabulous, as was the seafood, which was very tasty. The staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. Highly recommended, with excellent value for money and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.

Ideally located at the end of the Kanoni peninsula, this Greek-Mediterranean restaurant is one of the culinary addresses to try in Corfu. First for the setting and the breathtaking view of one of the island's must-see spots, the church of Pontikonisi, and the spectacular aircraft landings nearby. This pretty tavern, shaded by large tamarisk trees and located a few steps from the sea, is the domain of^Mrs. Eleni. There she prepares traditional dishes, cooked as at home, with products from her garden. Among the dishes not to be missed are the melting lamb from the Ziros hills, the succulent kakavia (fish soup) or the snails with tomato and onion sauce. Fresh fish and shellfish, grilled or simmered in different sauces, are of excellent quality. Also on the menu: grilled meats and various dishes.

The owner of this mezzedopoleio, originally from Macedonia ("perperas" means butterfly in Northern Greece), having succumbed to the charms of Crete, has been in Hania for some time and shares his love of cooking with his customers. In his establishment, a little removed from the tourist flows, you can taste very good small dishes and traditional Greek food, prepared from day to day. Sit under the wall trees and taste, among others, the best raki of Hania. Some evenings with live music, without microphones!

Alla & Alla is the kind of place you'd expect to find on vacation: a friendly atmosphere, where you can eat well without breaking the bank! Take a seat on Kaillambi alley, a stone's throw from the Fontaine aux Lions, and enjoy dishes prepared with quality ingredients: the salads are fresh and the small dishes inevitably attract a glass of chilled raki. Opt for the mixed grill dish for a meat-based meal. Bulk wine is of good quality. Efficient service. On the menu, solutions for vegetable lovers too.

As its name suggests, it is a real meeting place in the central square of the village! Greek specialties (pastitsio, moussaka, stuffed tomatoes) are enjoyed in the shade of the pergola, the meat comes from the farm of Yorgos, the owner. He organizes live Cretan music concerts once a week, enough to discover this other traditional facet of the island, after gastronomy and agricultural products. Among the latest addresses to open, this one hides in an elegant courtyard in Argostoli. Terre Mouikis is a bar-restaurant that's causing a stir with its modern, refined cuisine and creative cocktails. The menu by Cephalonian chef Asimakis Chaniotis (formerly of London's Michelin-starred Pied à Terre) features quality local produce and locally inspired recipes, such as the "riganada" of fresh tomatoes and wild oregano, with garlic and feta mousse and pan-fried squid: a version of the traditional Cephalonian meat pie.

Ideal for dining, as the view of the sea and sunset is magnificent. On the small pier perched on the water's edge, a varied menu featuring traditional Greek cuisine, fish and seafood (including grilled squid and sea bream), fresh shellfish and a choice of meat dishes. But above all, ask to see the day's catch, brought in by Nikolakis and Georgotzis, the two local boats. At the end of the meal, we were offered a phenomenal homemade kumquat liqueur. The service is very professional and friendly.
