You should know that this tavern exists, hidden in the hotel. It is a traditional restaurant, once run by Stamatis' parents. Today, the latter provides the service while his wife Zampeta prepares the dishes. On the menu, particularly successful, we had: caper salad with onions, chickpea soup, rooster in wine and lamb in the oven. Organic vegetables are grown in family fields. They also raise their rabbits, lambs, chickens, sheep and pigs. Homemade desserts are delicious.

Sit under the plane trees of Kandanos Square and enjoy Cretan cuisine worthy of the name: tsigariasto (mutton cooked in olive oil and oregano), sautéed snails(bourbouristoi) with rosemary and vinegar, zucchini flowers stuffed with rice, homemade yogurt, baked eggplant, three-cheese pate(kreatopitta), etc. The portions are generous. Excellent value for money.

It is one of the old taverns of the island, with a flowered terrace, overlooking the cove. What a location and what a view! We are also delighted by what there is in the plate: family cooking based on mezzes, vegetable dumplings, simmered dishes of lamb or rabbit... The cuisine is beautiful, and the products are mostly from their own garden. Excellent sfougata, croquettes with fresh cheese and nutmeg. Don't miss the oven-roasted pork with potatoes either. And if the charm is there, you can rent some rooms...

An excellent tavern-restaurant serving sophisticated Mediterranean cuisine and excellent quality dishes inspired by local cuisine. The staff is very friendly and the quantities are very reasonable. Despite its location on the harbor, this is an excellent restaurant, perhaps even one of the best on the island: authentic, very good, fresh, local and with reasonable prices. The service is efficient, in the shade facing the harbor. The tables overlook the beautiful beach of the port and the fish is very good. Ideal if you are waiting for a boat, but also if you are looking for a place to have lunch or dinner on the island. Open for breakfast, it is also a good option to eat when arriving after a long trip or just to have a coffee during the day.

Despite all the suspicion that can inspire establishments too close to the landing stage, this "crêperie" is a good surprise. We just add quotation marks because the offer, as often in Greece, goes beyond with burgers or daily dishes (from pasta to carbonara to mushroom risotto, through cheesecakes) very suitable. Ideal especially for breakfast or a snack while waiting for the boat. Also on the menu: scrambled eggs or club sandwiches, and of course pancakes, with excellent service.

An excellent family tavern as we like them and a real hidden gem! Pleasant environment, clean, well maintained, fresh, with a small playground for the little ones and with parking. In a cool courtyard near the beach, you can enjoy a homemade eggplant salad, a traditional filo pastry pie and local meats. The menu is very varied and offers high quality Greek classics. Service is prompt and attentive. The house usually offers sweets and fruit at the end.

More chic atmosphere, excellent service and original flavors. In the pedestrian area of Andros, this modern restaurant is off the beaten track of traditional taverns. The menu is limited and very well thought out, ranging from seafood pasta or shrimp risotto to smoked pork chops with mushrooms and generous salads. The vounisia (a variation of pasta a la carbonara with local ingredients) is interesting. As it is located in the center of Chora, it is advisable to book your table in advance.

This establishment is very good and has nothing to envy to the gastronomic restaurants of Athens. You will find original and very well executed recipes. An institution opened by two brothers in 1992, 200 meters from the Church of the Virgin. This excellent restaurant is also a meeting place for the locals and regulars. This is a tavern with a beautiful courtyard, a few meters from the beach. On the menu: fresh fish, but especially seafood, lobster and octopus. Try the kakkavia, a succulent fish soup. Homemade pies, homemade bread and superb oven-roasted kid from Keros. Finish with rakomelo, raki with honey and herbs, and a homemade mille-feuille.

Slightly set back from the port and in a small alley, the place is very pleasant. The Cavo d'Oro, a quasi-institution, has been operating as a restaurant since 1897. He spreads out his tables outside in a narrow alley where you can enjoy grilled meat to order. Also take fish, casseroles and stews. By the way, feel free to have a look in the kitchen. The portions are copious and the menu varies according to the season. The service is friendly, and the place is crowded... but not by tourists!
