This festival in honour of the patron saint of Spain and Galicia takes place every year on July 25th. On this occasion, a superb light show illuminates the Obradoiro square. Inside the cathedral, where the offering to Saint James is deposited, the ceremony of the censer ("Botafumeiro") takes place. The Festival of the Apostle James is accompanied for several days by numerous events: gaita concerts, folk dances, theatre and popular dances...

This tradition, which dates back to the Middle Ages, begins with the cremation of the Volatín, a figure made of wood and rags into whose mouth a firecracker is placed, supposedly representing Judas. The next day, in the Plaza de los Fueros in Tudela, thousands of people gather to witness the Bajada del Ángel (Descent of the Angel). In this ceremony, a child dressed as an angel runs up to a virgin covered with a black veil, a symbol of mourning for the death of Christ, and removes the veil to represent the resurrection of Christ.

A festival is dedicated to music and the Basque cuisine. Concerts in the open air in the peninsula of Santa Katalina workshops, tastings and gourmet, show-cooking, etc.

The Bilbao Architecture Festival! During 48 hours, dozens of buildings open their doors to the public and offer free guided tours.

For the fans of the round, this festival shows about fifteen documentaries dedicated to football. It is organized by the Athletic Club Foundation, and all projections take place in the original Sala BBK.

During one week, Bilbao pays tribute to the cinema of the fantastic with long and short films.

On the occasion of the festivities of the Saint James, a large agricultural fair is organised in Gorliz. Tastings and sales of products from the region.
