ROTA TRANSPORTES

Coach operator

Rota Transportes is a bus company that serves Itacaré. This bus line provides connections between Itacaré and Ilheus. The two cities are mutually very well served. Indeed, whatever the tourist season, there are departures almost every hour between 6am and 8pm, in both directions. The journey takes about 2 hours. They also operate on the Itacaré-Porto Seguro line as well (one bus a day in both directions that leaves Itacaré at 1:20 pm and arrives at 9:20 pm, and leaves at 10 am from Porto Seguro)

REAL EXPRESSO

Coach operator

Two buses of the Real Expresso company connect Lençóis to Salvador and Salvador to Lençois every day. They leave Lençois at 8:30am and 10:30pm and arrive at 3:50pm and 4:20am. From Salvador to Lençois, they leave at 1pm and 2:20am and arrive at 7:20pm and 4:40am. There are urban legends about "road cutters" on the night trips, but this seems to be a myth. If the night trip allows to avoid losing a day in Salvador or in the Chapadas, the arrival at 4am obliges to warn the pousada so that one can be welcomed.

TERMINAL MARITIMO

Port

Boats to Morro de São Paulo leave every 30 minutes or so until 5.30pm. Conventional: approx. 2-hour journey. Lancha rapida : approx. 50-minute trip. Please note that about one boat a day (conventional) circumnavigates several islands before arriving at Morro, and the journey becomes very long (about 4 hours), so check before boarding. These means of transport are always very pleasant, but, as we specified for journeys between Morro de São Paulo and Salvador, the boat trip is longer.

AGUIA AZUL

Coach operator

From Porto Seguro via Trancoso and Arraial d'Ajuda (40 km - 3 hours transport), departures from the ferry, about twice a day (more in high season). When it rains too much, the connection is interrupted, the buses would get stuck in the mud. You might get stuck in Caraíva. The solution is to come back by combi, if you manage to form a small group.

This type of transport is relatively inaccurate in terms of punctuality. It's part of Brazilian folklore, but you need to allow for a wide time interval in case of a connection.

BALSA RIO BURANHEM

Boat and ferry

You'll need to take a ferry to get from Porto Seguro to Arraial d'Ajuda: in summer, boats leave as soon as they're full. Out of season, they leave every half-hour. Service can be chaotic. Ferries are sometimes overwhelmed by demand. The queue is long, and the short distance you have to travel seems interminable. We've been told that prices change frequently, and some users report prices that vary according to the mood of the staff. Plan ahead if you have a tight schedule (bus to catch...).

RADIO TAXI NATAL

Taxi and VTC

This company is present since a long time in Natal. We will recall the instructions to be followed when using a taxi. It is necessary to call them by the pousada or the restaurant or to take them at the head of the station. Do not hail them in the street. Natal is unfortunately not a safe city anymore, especially at night. The taxi driver must engage his meter as of the beginning of the race (tariff day, night and possibly public holidays) except if you negotiate with him directly a fixed price. The prices of the races are correct in general.
