Since 2011, Fretcar has been operating from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara. The bus departs from Rodoviária, passing along Beira Mar Avenue (opposite the Praiano Hotel) and the airport. The journey takes between 5 and 6 hours. On arrival in Jijoca, passengers take a seat in a converted truck, which will take them to Jeri. Departure times may vary.

From Fortaleza (from rodoviária): 7 a.m., 2.45 p.m. and 6 p.m. Between the rodoviária and the airport, allow a little over an hour. Between R$70 and R$115.

The towns of São Luís and Alcântara are close together, but separated by the waters of São Marcos Bay. Boats link the two towns.

Alcântara: either on a large ferry-type boat, or on a catamaran, operated by the Barraqueiro and Luzitana companies: 1.5-hour crossing, sometimes rough, costing R$20. It's a good idea to buy your ticket in advance, as boarding can sometimes be slightly disorganized! Depending on the tide, the departure can be transferred from Ponta d'Areia. Departures for Alcântara at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., for São Luís at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Travelers and locals mostly use the connection between Penedo and the capital and main city of the state to move between these two tourist places.

A bus connects Maceió to Porto de Pedras. It passes through Barra do Camaragibe, São Miguel dos Milagres and Porto da Rua. About 15 R$ for a 3 hours 30 minutes trip, there are 8 buses per day. The first one leaves at 7:45 am, the last one leaves at 6:10 pm. In the direction Porto de Pedras-Maceio, there are also 8 buses that serve both cities, the first bus leaves at 5am and the last at 5:30pm. You can also take collective taxis and minibuses from Maceió. It is often faster and a little more expensive, but it is still an interesting option.

AEROPORTO DE FERNANDO DE NORONHA

The island of Fernando de Noronha is located 369 kilometers from Natal and 533 from Recife. It is sometimes possible to go there by boat (catamaran) but the travel time is long because there is no NGV between Recife or Natal and the archipelago. The most convenient way to get to Fernando de Noronha is by plane. Daily flights are provided by the companies Azul and GOL from the cities of Recife and Natal. The TIP (Terminal Integrado do Passageiros) combines the rodoviária with the metro terminus, making it easily accessible. Bus journey times between Recife and some of the Nordeste's metropolises and secondary towns are reasonable for those who are sensitive to their carbon footprint.

Salvador: by bus with the Itapemirim company, from 160 to 180 R$ depending on comfort.

Natal: with the Progresso company, R$ 40 and a 5h15 journey

Fortaleza: 4 buses a day with the Guanabara company (13-hour journey, between 160 and 250 R$)
