FOIRE DU MOUVEMENT DES SANS TERRE
Read moreEvery fortnight, the Mouvement des Sans Terre (Landless Movement), which is very present and structured in the Nordeste states, organizes a fair in the Humberto Frei center. There's a market selling local produce, and a popular lunch (where you wash your plate). Thematic discussions are organized on social issues in Ceará and Brazil. All this usually ends to the sound of accordions and forro players. A great experience off the beaten track!
HERANCA NATIVA
Read moreThe Herança Nativa festival is a superb project to showcase the cultures of the peoples of Ceara, organized by the Ceara SESC. The "ciganos" (gypsies from Europe, of whom there are nearly 600,000 in Brazil), the Amerindian communities, the Sertanejos and Serranos, as well as the quilombola communities (from the quilombos, villages made up of slaves who fled the oppression of European and Brazilian masters), constitute an immense cultural wealth that is too little known and recognized. Every year, the SESC promotes this intangible heritage.
FOIRES BIO DE FORTALEZA
Read moreIn fact, there are 5 "organic" fairs in Fortaleza: the Feira organica (rua torres camara, 996), the feira muda meu mundo (praça das flores), the feira agroecologica e solidaria (Sede CETRA), the feira Mercado dos pinhoes (in the eponymous market) and the feira agroecologica do Benfica (praça da Gentilândia). What they all have in common is that they sell agroecological products and showcase the work of small agricultural enterprises committed to a policy of local food production for local markets, while protecting the environment.
