What a little jewel of skill! This two-storey restaurant has a magnificent terrace fully furnished in the old Arab and Ottoman style: carved wooden chairs and tables, dark metal chandeliers and a palm leaf roof. The menu is just as enchanting: a large choice of hot and cold mezzés, traditional dishes such as pigeon or stuffed duck, and of course the very classic fresh fruit juices and shishas with a variety of flavours. For gourmets, the 8 mezze tasting plate is an excellent option.

Here you can choose to eat either in a typical souk alley or on the incredible roof terrace of the Nefertiti Hotel. From the roof terrace, you have a front row seat to admire the Avenue of the Sphinxes and the Temple of Luxor. The menu offers traditional Egyptian dishes, served by a smiling and dynamic staff. Don't miss your chance to taste the famous Camel Burger. Fans of strong meat will probably find this sandwich delicious. A restaurant that guides you to new Egyptian discoveries.

HARD ROCK CAFE CHARM

Egyptian restaurant €€€

Indoor restaurant for lunch and dinner. Nightclub after midnight. Always a popular address. The enormous guitar and the dome of the restaurant act as an oasis and invite all desert dwellers to have a good time. The establishment is located in the centre of Naama Bay, where all the development in recent years seems to have been built around the Hard Rock Cafe. Inside you will find a pyramid full of rock'n'roll souvenirs. Count about 60 LE for appetizer, 160 LE for a meal. and 100 LE for dessert to share.

DANIELA VILLAGE

Restaurant Daniela is located in the hotel of the same name. Accessible by road, 3 km from the monastery. The hotel is surrounded by the Sinai mountains. Isolated from the hustle and bustle of city life during the vacation season, it's the ideal place for travelers looking to relax and dine in almost monastic silence. Breakfast is buffet-style and reasonably priced. So you can have lunch or dinner here. A satisfying option if you don't want to eat in the village...

AD-DUKKA, NUBIAN RESTAURANT

Egyptian restaurant €€
4/5

If you only go to the restaurant in Aswan once, go in front of Egypt Air, along the cornice, to take the shuttle that will take you to the small island. After a fire in 2017, the site was completely rebuilt and the Nubian atmosphere restored, from the decoration to the plate. Prefer the terrace to the hall, the setting is magical. You will find Nubian specialities: grilled meat, tajines, mezze, salads, rice... Service somewhat overwhelmed in high season.

SEA GULL

Egyptian restaurant €€

An unlikely place: a reconstructed fortified castle, a zoo and a restaurant. Sea-side kitchen with a selection of fresh fish and seafood that can be prepared at your convenience. The fishing is of quality and the cooking perfect, all orchestrated by a friendly service. The room is kitschy as you wish, ask to be installed in their open space where the view is splendid. Perfect address for families, children have a space with attractions to keep them occupied if dinner is too long.

OLD NUBIAN RESTAURANT

Egyptian restaurant €€

Set high above Lake Nasser, this restaurant is an ideal stop-off point after a visit to the Temple of Isis. Facing the landing stage and the dam, with the muezzin playing in the background, you can enjoy the Nubian ambience: whitewashed walls and brightly colored drawings. Ask for the lowest tables with a direct view of the lake. The food is fine, based around fish and chicken and enhanced by fragrant vegetables. The owners also have an adjoining guest-house, itself on this wonderful site. We recommend it!

MOHAMMED AHMED

Egyptian restaurant

Since 1957, this address has been the Alexandrian - indeed, the national - reference for foul! The whole of society flocks here, including the Queen of Spain. Ask, of course, for the "foul eskandrani" (Alexandrian foul), accompanied by a variety of mezze. You'll really get your money's worth, and the impression of a local experience, in a warm and typical atmosphere. Falafel and hummus are also excellent. If you're in a hurry, buy sandwiches on the run - they come in all shapes and sizes.

TAVERNA

Egyptian restaurant

A rather warm, oriental-rustic atmosphere, and friendly waiters who work like bees to satisfy all these little people. The cooking is not always regular but it is especially necessary to go there for the shawarma and the fitirs that they succeed particularly well. It is rather a cheap address that stays open late at night which can help when you let yourself be taken by time. The small terrace overlooking the sea is very pleasant in summer, lunch in such a setting is certainly the most beautiful advantage of this address.

ANA MISHO

Egyptian restaurant

If there is a king of the foul, Ana Misho is the prince of kochery in Alexandria: he is undeniably good... and invigorating! This traditional recipe is made with macaroni, fried onions, brown lentils and tomato sauce, so much so that you will be satisfied at a lower cost! The place is clean and the service efficient: it's a good popular address, you can also order your kochery to go. A little advice, stick to the house specialty and avoid pasta and pizzas that are served in their own oil ..

GIANOLA

Egyptian restaurant

This is Port-Saïd's emblematic pastry shop. Try its delicious butter croissants. In addition to viennoiseries, it offers a multitude of mouth-watering pastry creations and, of course, a whole range of oriental cakes, including a wonderful baklawa. Sandwiches, burgers, salads and pizzas are also available for lunch. You can also buy bags of confectionery and sweet petits-fours to take back to France as souvenirs. The interior is less attractive than the terrace on the street.

ABDOU KOFTA

Egyptian restaurant

The inhabitants of the town will tell you, it is the best restaurant to offer you grilled meats, pigeons to become greedy! We also like its accompaniments: garnished vine leaves, accompanied by a yoghurt salad, vegetables cooked in tajine, samboussek filled with cheese and a delicious rice cake to finish. The pita is particularly fresh with a hummus perfect to accompany it! Very good address but a little more expensive than a simple Kebab restaurant. The place is clean and the service courteous.

SABER

Egyptian restaurant

It is the historic site of the chain that has now developed in Cairo. Another king in his field: rice pudding with different flavours. Same recommendation as in Cairo: ask for the whole thing with eichta (a thick, extremely fragrant milk cream) and raisins. Other specialities include louqmat al-qady doughnuts and iced compositions such as Mistka, a vanilla ice cream sprinkled with crushed nuts. On the spot or to take away, the sign makes sweet eyes with sweet beaks.

ASWAN MOON

Egyptian restaurant

Restaurant on three levels on the banks of the Nile. You can either choose to gaze at the river and stay on land or dine in the boat and feel the lapping and swirling of the Nile. Being below the level of the Corniche, you also put away its hubbub to better appreciate the view. The menu of traditional Egyptian dishes is unpretentious but flawless. It also offers pasta and pizza specialties and, of course, mint tea and chichas! Very busy in season, it is sometimes necessary to be a little patient.
