Travel Guide Ras El Oued

The 20 kilometers of road between Douiret and Ras El Oued are already a spectacle of beauty. This site hosts an exceptional troglodytic village that was inhabited until recently. The old village, Ksar Daghariet, totally deserted today is located 1.8 km east of the modern village. This village and those around it are the only troglodytic habitats occupying the front of the plateau or encircling the hills in front of it. Ras El Oued is also an excellent example of a traditional rural society anchored in its territory and its natural environment. The inhabitants still speak the Berber language fluently on a daily basis.
