After Zaafrane, on the road to El Fouar, 3 km from the junction, we arrive in a beautiful oasis. It is Sabria, pleasant small village lodged in the hollow of the first dunes of the Sahara, where live approximately 5 000 people. We are here at 30 minutes of road of Douz. In the village, only low houses, new or older. Here we can see the daily rural life, and we will cross many farmers and shepherds as well as many animals, donkeys and horses in the lead. It is not rare to cross a dromedary which awaits its owner in front of a house. Nomadic tradition very present, the habits and customs are transmitted to the young generations. To perpetuate them, each year, in March, the families of Sabria leave to settle in the desert a few dozen kilometers from the village. For two weeks, when the desert vegetation can feed the animals, everyone sleeps in a Berber tent and life is reorganized around the herds and wells, with the sun and stars as guides. Sabria is not fixed for the tourists, far from the cliché of certain places, the village is very pleasant for the walks. Don't hesitate to ask Nayer, from the Dunes Insolites camp, to guide you for a visit in his grandparents' village: he is passionate about Sabria! Nayer can also organize excursions and outings in the Sahara from Sabria.
