About twenty kilometers east of Libreville, the city of Nkok is crossed by the National 1. Since 2011, it has been home to the privileged economic zone (ZERP), which brings together about a hundred companies in various fields, including wood processing. It is divided into three zones - industrial, commercial and residential - and includes banks, insurance companies, training centres and a fire station. It is served by a railway line for freight transport. More than 5,000 people work there full-time, more than 70% of whom are Gabonese.
