About 40 kilometers from the Gabonese capital, Ntoum is the closest town to Libreville if you leave on the National 1. It does not present any particular attraction, except that it is a stage where one finds gasoline and various supplies before leaving for the bush. The town owes its economic development to logging, agriculture and more recently to the manufacture of cement, with the discovery of limestone quarries in the 1980s. Belonging to the green belt of Greater Libreville, Ntoum supplies fruit and vegetables to the capital's markets. There are also many rice fields in the area.
