Once an active mining town with a small museum dedicated to the subject, Inverness is now a top destination for golfers with two superb courses in the vicinity, each offering stunning views of the Northumberland Strait. Also not to be missed is the beautiful beach which attracts those who like to relax and swim on sunny days. The small town also has a tourist information center, a microbrewery (Route 19, open seasonally), a nice artisan gift store (Quincy Street Market), good restaurants (A Small Town Deli, The Annex, etc.) and a few lodgings.
