A town in the south-west of the country populated mainly by Bétés, there are national park offices there, although the park entrance is on the other side. There are a few hotels that are convenient to stop on the road between San Pedro and Yamoussoukro. Not to be missed also, the Nawa waterfalls just next to the city. Since June 2017, Soubré has a dam on the Sassandra River. It is gigantic: 4 km long, it has a capacity of 275 MW, its construction took 5 years. Nearly 400 families had to be "evacuated". Thanks to this construction site, the country's hydraulic energy now represents 40% of the country's hydropower, compared to 31% before.
