Ulsan lies between sea and mountains, to the east of Busan. All too often neglected in favor of Busan, it's a very pleasant metropolis, much quieter than its fellow cities. Although it has the status of a major industrial city (huge Hyundai complexes), it abounds in attractive, recreational beaches such as Ilsan and Jujeon. They have the immense advantage of being less crowded than those in Busan. Ulsan also boasts numerous gardens and parks right in the heart of the city.
