La Ensenada de Utría is a magical place. Framed by the immensity of the Pacific Ocean and the foothills of the Serranía del Baudó, this national park of more than 54,000 ha (of which only 3 are open to the public) was created in 1987 to protect three ecosystems: coral reefs, mangroves and tropical rainforest. A paradise for birdwatchers and one of the best places to see whales in season. The bay is even nicknamed the "birthing room of humpback whales", as they feel so comfortable in these warm and calm waters. If you are lucky, you may also see sea turtles. The coastal landscapes are magnificent and change according to the tides. Black sand beaches, crystal clear water, mangroves, exuberant tropical vegetation. We really feel here in a wild and generous world.
