The history of Patan dates back to the 12th century, when Anangpal II founded the city. He ruled Delhi from his small state of Torawati. The city came back in the history books with the battle of Patan which took place in 1790: it opposed the Marathas supported by the French, the Rajputs gathering the armies of Jaipur and Jodhpur. Today, the small town of Patan enjoys a quiet life at the foot of the green hills of the Aravalli. One comes there to discover the quietness of the Rajasthan countryside and to stay at the palace transformed into a charming hotel. One can also go for a walk in the hills and the old fort.
