Founded in 1768 by Thakur Nahar Singh, just like the fort transformed into a hotel, this village of 4,500 inhabitants was an important trading place in the 19th century, especially for cotton and opium. It was also an obligatory passage for caravans coming from Delhi or Jaipur. Several merchants settled in the city including the Poddars for the most famous. They sublimated it by building the most beautiful jewel of Shekhawati, the Sone Ki Dukan with delicate and sumptuous frescos. Next to this magnificent building stands a temple dedicated to Shiva, and further on, the Raghunath Temple, one of the largest temples in the region.
