An immensity of ochre roofs as far as the eye can see, dotted with greenery, dotted with a few hills and crossed by blood laterite tracks, the city of Ibadan has a certain charm next to the urban monster that is Lagos. Ibadan is the largest city in West Africa in terms of area, and the third largest city in the country by population, estimated at around 3 million people. The city of seven hills retraces through some of its buildings the history of a rich and developed Southwest, the first region of the subcontinent to obtain the economic, cultural and scientific attributes of a modern city, and already a demographic power at the beginning of the last century. Ibadan is one of the Yoruba homes, capital of Oyo State and whose name would mean "city between plains and forests". Be careful, traffic can be complicated in Ibadan due to the many private streets that are closed by barriers: ask for the shortest route for passers-by if you find yourself in a dead end!
